02/12/2012 – Summer was yesterday

02/12/201225

Brrrr! The similarities between Australia and my home country Sweden are few, but now at least there’s one thing in common; summer only lasts for ONE day.

Still, 134 swimmers frolicked in the bay, not taking any notice of the arctic water temperature of 20.3 degrees.

But of course, neither the bold nor the beautiful were deterred by that – some even presenting their offspring as a gift to appease the weather gods in the bay. Marc and his young but indeed both bold and beautiful daughter crossed Cabbage Tree Bay together, Lauren on a fabulous pink board.

Yesterday was truly the day of reckless summer stunts. As seen in Robbie’s blog, some swimmers felt overheated and overdressed. Personally I didn’t mind, being Swedish myself and prone to strutting around in my birthday suit on a regular basis (oh, you haven’t seen it? Just as well, I say), but due to the overwhelming number of complaints to Manly Council’s rangers, the AFP, FBI and The Association of Upstanding, Decent Members of Society, our swimmers reluctantly pulled on the cozzies again. And don’t they scrub up well?

The lovely Graham’s time in Manly is sadly coming to an end in about a week. Look how sad he is too.

No wait, he was just demonstrating one of the traditional hip hop folkdances so typical of Western Victoria.

If I were a real estate agent I would label these following pics ‘Actual View’. Living in a postcard, that’s what we are, folks.

The Daily Drama of getting in 🙂

A couple of happy kids joined us again today. Just look at the sheer joy in their innocent faces.

To quote my dear friend and Women’s Changing Room Philosopher Lori (btw where were you this morning, babe?), “Your smile is your best accessory”. These gorgeous swimmers waiting at Shelly Beach show you how it’s done:

As I was attempting to capture the wisdom and serenity of our, from Hong Kong recently returned Sarah and Jon, I’m afraid a persistent virus popped up. I believe it’s called Bloggus Tartius Extralippius.

And back. According to stats, we didn’t lose a single swimmer to rough seas this morning.

Some of the boys didn’t notice winter was back in full swing. Here they are exposed to the open air frost, still managing to stay toasy, somehow. Must be the abundant warmth stemming from their beautiful hearts. (Cheesy I know, but they’re never short of a kind word. Thanks guys!)

No boulderdashians reported this morning, but I did see a few already wet swimmers heading for coffees as the rest of us entered the ocean at 7am.

Tomorrow is supposedly N*ked Monday, according to Robbie. Has anyone noticed though, that Robbie is the only one still in a full length wetsuit…? We call that pretty kinky were I come from 🙂

Over and out from today’s blogger Anna A

Thanks for the lovely blog, Anna – so great to be back with you all:-)))))))))))))))))
Little Lauren – great outfit! Hope we’ll see your sister next weekend in one as well. I was telling Jo (Rainer’s wife) and Little Ava (his daughter) about you. They’ve made the first step – B&B breakfast!
Young Jack, rumour tells me you’ll be back in the surf next weekend after all your exams for a gentle bolderdash (or boldercrawl for some of us) next weekend. Sat or Sun?

I tried to help warm the water up but people kept moving away from me, don’t know why 😉 It was very patchy today wasn’t it?
Great blog Anna especially with not a lot of marine life to report on or groundbreaking news! Stunning people though as usual and so nice to have Little Sarah and Jon back! Actually saw Lips’s lovely wife Jo, today. When I asked her what it was like kissing him with the jimble lips she said she didn’t dare try it! Poor Lips!

Oh dear that virus pops up in all sorts of places…. I wonder if it’s catching? 😉 lovely to have you back little Sarah and Jon… Beautiful smiles! Wish I had smiled for that terrible photo of me though! Great blog Anna! And a great Sunday morning with the B&B

g8 blog beautiful Anna, a much more sophisticated humor than usual and greatly appreciated by the silent nameless majority with quality, poise and style.
Fifi, you missed swimming again today, but I noticed someone had accidently marked you off! I’ll bring a banana for you tomorrow if you’ll swim.
No sea life? AnneE (in her magic flying radioactive shark repellent jimble suit) and I saw a huge ray with no tail just off Shelley.
A big welcome back to the B&B’s own jetsetting couple that split their time between Sydney, NY and HK.

Thanks Anna. Love being called a virus.. I know you’re referring to my infectious smile of course!!
Great to have Little Sarah and Jon back in Manly. LSA out-swam me with ease despite having flown in from HK just last night. Jet lag and all. I blame it on Lesley’s rashie. It’s much too tight for me. Restricts arm movement.
Elaine, my wife was indeed reluctant to kiss me for a few days after ‘The Attack’, but she’s actually quite into the little scar thats left on my cheek now. Apparently it gives me a bit of a ‘bad boy’ look. Irresistable I’m told. Look who’s having the last laugh now, jimbles!!
See you all tomorrow! Naked Monday!

Great blog Anna. Lori is right. You have a killer accessory there. 🙂
Lips, your wife is right. I wouldn’t kiss you either.
    Fif’s – I did not know you like banana’s
John S – did you swim today?

A bit unfair on Leslie and Jules I reckon.

    See you tomorrow 🙂

Yes, the new “Leslie-look” is rather confusing – I kept thinking how kind she was to keep me company and be swimming at my pace:-)
As for Attack updates, Jenn at breakfast was sporting the latest Bluebottle Facial ‘Bad Girl’ look, while Half of Brucy was indeed on (sexy??? er…) crutches, sporting a Surf Toe injury. That’ll teach him to go surfing rather than swimming and give me a chance to catch up on the PC.
All those at the bottom of the first column, watch out, here we come, back up the ladder… SS, John S and Andrew D – your crafty moves in our absence have been noted!

Glad to help out with the shedding of the SS:-)) Not sure I heard the full version of the Dolphin Epic….. look f/w to it when I’m a little less jet-lagged and can listen to more than the intro….

Sterch, I will certainly be lured by a banana any time.
I’m so glad that embarrassing photo of whoever it is with their big gob open isnt me or I’d feel very foolish. Luckily I wasnt there, I was somewhere else luring all the sea life away. With bananas.

Oh thanks for your cheers, guys!
Now, must say I’m totally embarrased as I’ve managed to get two names wrong today. Mark spells his name like this, and his lovely daughter is Laura, not Lauren! Sorry.
    Enjoy Sunday, ya’ll. xx

Greg and I started a bit late but we got there in the end.
Not sure if I ticked the bolderdash or shelley book but?
Ah…in the quoted manner of someone great….
    ‘there are no rules’
I did notice SS put his gear BETWEEN the yellow lines, have a shower in the clubhouse today and then tick the bolderdash book…….I suppose its a longer walk to the shower in the clubhouse than the one outside.

Lesley has the wit, looks and butt to blog
    Jules the charisma and brains.
    No unfairness intended. 😉

Yes, Snorkles, you did. And thanks for posting the DVD box set of it. And the two copies for friends and family. Very thoughtful of you. I’ll put them right next to Rob’s ironman memorabilia.
Doesnt change the fact that i’m the one who scored on the spreddy today!!!
    See ya at Naked Monday!

This applies equally to Michael. Needless to say.
