07/12/2012 – Palindrome Tides

07/12/201228

Over 180 Bold & Beautiful swimmers are in the swim of things this morning !!

With a record number of 38 swimmers kicking off early, enjoying an absolutely divine Bolderdash, setting off from Manly at 5.50am – all high on life as they hang under the heart 🙂

There were plenty of early lappers to
Shelly and back too.

Everyone back in time to join in the excitement and camaraderie of the main 7am swim 🙂

There’s something about doing an early swim that makes you so much more cuddly 😉

It’s good to see that some swimmers still know where ‘the point’ is… hint hint !!

Do we really need to send the jimbles in to keep you all under control ??

Someone said they saw a jimble this morning !?  Angela reckons she even got a little sting !?

Nothing stops the beautiful Shelly Beach Smiles 🙂

In fact Little Sarah was so happy she could fly !!  Well with a little help from Butch, aka Miles

Seems someone’s feeling a little left out…

He shouldn’t be though as he’s overtaken Retha in the Pacific Challenge today !!

There could be a few more places up for contention tomorrow with the Summer Badge 6km Swim !  Conditions don’t get better than this, so if you’re tempted now’s your time… !  Start with the regular 7am Shelly swim, then we continue on up to Freshie and back.  It should be beautiful 🙂

All in all another magic morning in Paradise Bay

Some more lovely Bolderdash photos from Simon

and some great photos from Stephen starting with Friday’s Reflections

Sadly Graham’s leaving us to head back to lonely Victoria tomorrow, so please come and join him for a farewell drink or too this evening from 7.30pm at Hugos

Thanks to Linda from Manly Mac Art our highly sort after 2013 B&B Calendars are not far away !!  They’re currently at the printers, as soon as we get an estimated date of arrival we’ll start selling them.  They’ll be $15 each.  How many shall we order that’s the question ???

Great news on the blogging calendar… Pippa’s going to take over Tuesday’s blog starting next week 🙂  We’ve still got 3 more days a week to fill… Fri, Sat and Sunday morning’s…  who wants them ???   Serious audition processes will apply 😉  The race is on though as Tim’s nearly committed to Fridays and Anna’s nearly committed to Sundays, so don’t miss this golden opportunity !!

To kick off our exciting new partnership with Royal Far West, for a gold coin donation RFW are kindly hosting a BBQ Breakfast so all our swimmers can come over, meet and greet and get to know more about the wonderful work they do there on Saturday 22nd December straight after the swim.  So please do put this in your diaries and try to pop on over, support this fantastic cause and get to know a little more of what our friends do.

Great photo of little Sarah and Jane! Hope you didn’t feel too left out Rainer, and now Retha will need to fight back to reclaim her spot! We love the morning hugs, but Michelle seems scared….. Maybe scared of those jimbles?? Hope the stings were not too bad folks!

    Another fabulous Bolderdash this morning.
How good was that? 38 swimmers down at the ‘heart’. What a great sight. It was like a party down there.
Tomorrow the 6k swim, should be just as good. AND no Jimbles down that way.

A great Boldercrawl too…. lovely early morning sky, glassy conditions, great tea-breaks – glad Bob joined Jon, Lips and I for one or two, Mark for one and Patrick for the last one….. lovely friendly, clapping large nest of pink caps at Queensie. “Let’s Go” just as soon as we touched base:-)
Lovely almost-jimble-free route back to Shelly apart from the Head to Head with Rough Diamond and DWSS out at the shark net – they’re now using devious means to block my would-be PC Lane1 spot. I think they’ve even enlisted Milo in their desperation:-/ As I said, at least Andrew D (Drinky?)is a gentleman – he’s kindly dropped out of the race:-)

Great seeing you all this morning on the crawl.
Sarah with only 1 Km between us on the Pacific Challenge, I ask that you be a lady and not swim tomorrow.
Rough Diamond and I are doing service for the community tomorrow morning,
we are giving back for the good of all, I plead with you and I would be dissapointed if you let sneeky tactics interfere with a good honest contest
    Think of the children.!!!!

btw, great photo with the Milo.
    Watch his hand though. hahaha

Great Bolderdash photos – what a crowd!!
Um, yes I do think there was one jimble. It was a very persistent one though and insisted on kissing me multiple times 🙂
Thank you to every who gave me drugs, cream, spray and sympathy – you’re lovely!!
    xx

And we know who’s turn it is to be Full-Time Carer today:-)
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to all today’s victims from that one jimble:-)

Hey not everyone gave you sympathy Lucy, I gave you a mental undressing and liberal application of baby oil. And if you need more drugs don’t bother asking Brad, bet he’s got nothing on Lil’ Sarah’s products. Bet she’d recognise Jay-Z on the subway.
And 38 people on Bolderdash, wow! Like the moshpit at a Missy Higgins gig.
What’s with the wetsuits peeps? Am I missing something, is it like a combination of hypoxi & that sweaty yoga they do when the aircon’s busted? Express the flesh!
Thanks for the offers for the house-sitting. I just need to increase the tally by one to have a winner. And if that doesn’t happen I think I just get to nominate someone; yeah yeah this is how the NEW B&B is gonna be run OK? Jules rules schmules.

Alyson, needless to say, Jon and I were not amused by the way Miles man-handled Little Sarah this morning.
But I have to hand it to him, it was a great grope. Apparently, his secret is (according to LSA) to grope just hard enough so the gropee doesn’t feel ticklish, whilst not leaving any bruises or other marks that could be used as evidence in court.

Agree with Little Sarah. Was great to see a huge crowd waiting for us at Queensie. However, everyone seemed in such a rush to turn back without any time for chitchat. We didnt even get on the team photo!!
Granted, we were particularly slow this morning. I blame the currents. And maybe Bob for leading us astray every now and again. He seemed to gravitate to the shark nets all morning, and had to be herded back in line every few hundred meters..

Miles, the wetsuits the only reason we stay afloat. And warm, during our extended stints in the water. Remember some us us take a good hour to make it to Queensie and back!
And trust me, at our pace (speaking on behalf of the wetsuit people), we’re not working up a sweat. Tea breaks all the way. Much more social than you young guns in your budgies.
I will, however, revert to Lesely’s see-through rashie for the shorter swims to Shelly during summer. Happy?

  • Nice Milo

    07/12/2012 at 3:14 pm

Seeing you in a see-through rashie Lips? How could I not be happy? 🙂

  • Lesley's See Through White Rashie

yes yes I love being wet and stuck to Lips – I hate that old wetsuit he wears he needs to come back to me!!

so glad the quality of the blog and humor has been escalated upwards by Jules and Anna. ;-)))))
As DWSS mentioned we serve the community tomorrow, so KM’s done b y LSA and AD count on the pacific challenge!
Who’s cute, pink, eloquent and gets scared when you surprise her by swimming beneath her out at the shark nets while looking for dolphin to munch?
PS thanks for the tip about the goggles working better right side up!

  • Pacific Jules

That would be “ME” 🙂 xx
You sure made me jump springing out of nowhere like that in the middle of the ocean. Very cruel rough diamond. I obviously prefer smooth diamonds 😉

I may now be on the other side of the world (where I belong?) but I remain with you, especially the slower regular swimmers, in spirit! It’s great to keep in touch with the happenings on the Bolderdash/Boldercrawl but frustrating not to be there to do one in such good conditions myself. Good luck for all your long summer swims!
