20/12/2012 – Christmas Adventure Night Swim

20/12/201213

Over 80 Bold & Beautiful Swimmers Braved the Christmas Adventure Night Swim

and oh my gosh what fun we had !

Glow sticks, torches.  You name it we had it.

We entered the water at 8pm, just on sunset.

With everyone gathered just beautifully, right at the point !

We all landed at Shelly on a high

Matt H pretty excited he’d just completed another first… his first swim to Shelly only 45 minutes after eating Burritos !

Sarah B offering her services in the shallows

and we’re nothing if not pink…  with the new solstice tradition held by a few, it doesn’t seem to matter if it’s winter or summer…

The smurfs joined in too

Everyone was, as always, in such good spirits.  The adrenaline was pumping… there were no drips needed Anne it was all free flowing with most swimmers completing the return trip too.

Landing at Manly in a state of euphoria well on last light 🙂

We had plenty of spectators and company on boards too, thanks guys !  There were a few good camers on the sidelines too, so I’m sure Anna A will have some great photos to add tomorrow.

I was thinking as I was swimming back enjoying watching the glow on my wrists that it doesn’t matter what crazy things we come up with; we say jump and you say how high.  You guys seriously are THE BEST.  We all had a blast !!

Shame if you didn’t join in, as it seems that all the participants got an extra 6km in the Pacific Challenge… check out today’s attendance, all the night swimmers have a superman 6 next to their name 🙂

Jules M said it was almost as good as her IronMan and John B wanted to sing Jimble Bells, but we’re gonna save that for our Christmas Day Swim 🙂

To finish the night we went to Murray’s for a night cap

Thank you all for being a part of it and making everything we do such fun.

Sweet dreams.  See you all in the morning for more of the same xx

Agree with Dave. Amazing experience. Thanks Jules!
I am told most swimmers are accounted for. No sign f DWSS yet. I am told he swam to Queensie to earn the full 12k credit for the Night Bolderdash.

Thank you so much to Jules for organising the night, hilarious!
Paige, extra thanks for pushing Jack. You do know how to work kids!!! He is so proud of himself for swimming and confronting his fears!

What a beautiful time to swim. Swimming from Shelly was magical.
As I walked to Shelly I did notice a bare butt or 3. Glad to see the photographic evidence.

Congratulation to you all. Well done.
Without taking away from the effort you all put in as it was just awesome and as 50% of the commissioned “integrity police” I do have a few concerns.
    My concerns are as follows;
1/ Sunset was at 8.06 pm therefore the majority of the swim was undertaken during daylight.
I must lodge a protest on the grounds of accuracy. 8.06 pm dusk is Not night.
2/ The Mayan’s were 50% correct or so it seems. for a short period last night, Shelly beach moved several KMs out to sea and then back in the morning. As a commissioned integrity inspector of police, I wish to lodge a complaint regarding the accuracy of the Pacific Challenge. 1.5km is 1.5km not 6km.
3/ The mass corruption is a huge concern. Not only granting 6km to every man woman and child, I also note that at the centre of this 6km Christmas rort is the secret squirrel who is the other half of the commissioned integrity police. I doubt I will have support from my fellow integrity officer.
4/ If several witnesses come forward and collaborate that Shelly beach did relocate and back again, I will withdraw my protest.
Again, well done swimmers, awesome effort.

Congratulations to all! So glad it was such a success.
DW was seriously whinging this morning about corruption, PC points and the world and begging for assistance with his legal challenge. I wasn’t having a bar of it.
As far as I’m concerned, Michael & Jules can do no wrong – they can write and change any rules whenever they like. They can even award treble miles for septuagenarians from now on as far as I’m concerned:-))

Uhmm… is that why you headbutted me as I was pleasantly minding my own business swimming to Shelly this morning ? You must be cranky !! But, even so I didn’t think you’d resort to violence 😉 x
The GPS watch recorded 6km… honest… and besides the brave B&B definitely deserved the superman icon 🙂

DWSS aggressively headbutting and the use of his commission in attempt for personal gain!!!!!!! SHAME SHAME SHAME!
As 50% of the commissioned “integrity police” I feel it prudent to suggest Jules strip DWSS of…….hmmmm…..lets say 4.5 kms. (a random figure totally unrelated to the pacific challenge).
Lesleys butt was very conspicuously missing and sadly missed last night!
    ;-(

The ONLY thing I am disappointed about MISSING last night’s swim IS, the guys taking off their budgies!!! 🙁 – Can we have a repeat?? hee hee

Well how much fun can be had for a Thursday evening! Lesley I was unaware of the “boldness” of some of our swimmers last night. I was happily chatting away to Alex P and Iain at Shelley beach … And discussing the loss of my glow stick necklace. Gareth then points out that maybe others have lost more than me! … Being the English gal that I am …. I was shocked! Haha
