176 Bold and Beautiful swimmers emerged from the post Apocalypse haze, showing various effects of the End of the World… but we don’t something trivial like that stop us.. do we?
There was a lot of yawning and stretching… yeh… you can tell who the “players” are…

Sue never needs to worry about forgetting her cap…

Some had a “conservative” approach to the whole Doomsday scenario….

It seemed to take no time at all to get to the point…

Where our little friend was waiting…

I don’t know.. it seemed like some people swam a little faster today… can’t quite explain it…. When we got to Shelly it was obviously a good turnout…

Quite a few headed back for halfway..

It’s so nice to cruise around the point after a great swim.. starting to think about breakfast.. what am i going to have? Hmmm… will I have the scrambled eggs or the bacon and egg roll? Look at the nice people on the point watching us swim… isn’t that nice.. hmmmmm… I can still see them all…. they’re not moving…. am I actually going backwards? Ahhh yes… a good time to remember Michael’s safety tips in the surf (which we’ve all memorised?) … stay calm…swim sideways … keep thinking about breakfast….

It was lovely to be sharing the point with the surfers this morning who always greet us with a smile and a cheery wave and a “Merry Post-Apocalypse Christmas!” I’ll bet they wish they could swim with us every morning…
After the extra workout we were hosted to a breakfast by Penelope Sinton from the Royal Far West School in Manly, to raise a little money and awareness of the amazing care they provide to children from country areas … some of whom have never seen the ocean before coming to Manly.
We raised $428 (not including calendar sales) this morning … There are still some calendars left if you have a space on your wall or fridge!
Thanks to Deb for these pics 🙂

mmmmmmmmmmmm… bacon

Last week I forgot to “sign off,” so this week it won’t happen again…
“Until next week….. players…”

Great blog, King Nick!
Some of us got caught by a very big set coming in to shore, but all enjoyed the wonderful afterlife at the Royal Far West breakfast and interesting talk. So glad we have this collaboration.
Love the shots of “our little friend” and do hope the B&B swimmer who gave him a kiss is doing well.

If anyone found a brown pair of havaiana thongs please let me know, thanks
If you stole them… I’m after you. Prime suspect is a young pudgy Welshman masquerading as a doctor.
(Great blog btw!)

gr8 blog Nick,
Humourous, witty and not too self indulgent!
Dear DWSS, (50% of the integrity police)
Can you please advise me?
I had a cold shower this morning whilst doing my one man show performing arts number called ‘a jimbles life’ for ElainE.
Is that a Boulderdash or a double Shelley?
Ypurs truthfully

So sorry Rob! I accidentally stole your havianas! Same colour as mine but a different size! I am a bit of a kleptomaniac as far as thongs are concerned but do have a habit of losing everything else. They will be washed and returned!
Love the blog, theme and title Nick. The RFW breaky was great! Enjoy your Saturday folks x

Thanks Elaine!! I will advise manly police to call off the search and cancel the interrogation of the Welshman.
Although I reckon he put you up to it, I’m watching you both from now on…. Lol

Neither mr Squirrel.
Also note
A 1 hr surf is not a Shelley swim.
Although noble, under Shelley swim tick regulation 5 Part D
This is not permitted. I will be talking to the authorities to remove your total KM’s.
I also know that your disqualification will not be proccessed as you are also “On the take”
Great Blog Nick.
Witty, pleasant and interesting.
Well done.

Oh, that’s so funny, LaneyLoo – can’t believe you missed the ranting and raving shoe-less Robster at RFW. I was sure it was the Rough Diamond Squirrel or Not-to-be-Trusted-claims-he-saw-a-Dolphin-once.
Did you wear your havianas (not cigars for the ignorant) at the same time or are we still looking for a suspect for those?
Robster, how could you have suspected our Heart Throb oh-so-innocent Doc? “Me???”, I hearing him asking in shock. Anway, forgiven for so gallantly escorting me on my swim today “all the way”:-)

But what happened to the pic of Annie, Budding Blog Tart Extraordinaire, with egg on her face? Can’t believe it didn’t make the cut as it took some serious preparation with the egg…. Yes, Anna and Jules make it look effortless:-))

Wholeheartedly agree with DWSS. In fact I would like to put forward a motion to strip Elaine of 3k herself for watching s.squirrel’s distasteful performance this morning..

Annie just couldn’t cut it with a serious new blog tart on the scene. Well done to my Aunty Sue. First swim today and 2 feature shots – you seem to get some serious screen time when you dye your hair pink. LSA, are you game?

I swam at Fairlight – well for 5 mins until a Blue Bottle stung me ..my questions are:
1) Lips – can I get as much publicity for this as you did ?
2) DWSS – do I get any points for swimming at all today?
Little Sarah Abbott
22/12/2012 at 5:44 pm
Yes, well done Aunty Sue – wiped the regulars off the cover pages:-)
Drinky Boy, maybe we can both go pink on Xmas Day!

Thanks for another great video Mauricio ! Love the first dusky and the wave at the end. It looks like the wave that creamed me on the way back in.

Great blog Nick. Love the photos !
Thank you to everyone for coming along to launch B&B’s friendship with Royal Far West this morning. They were delighted to have us all there enjoying their facilities. We must do it again some time 🙂
If you missed it or you missed Penelope’s little talk on the amazing work they do at RFW please do make contact with her or pop in one day after the 7th January. I think you’ll be very impressed. There are many ways you can get involved and help support the kids and families they have staying there on a weekly basis during term times.

Its been working really well and I am happy with the results.
Great opportunity to capture the B&Bs in motion and show the family and friends how fantastic this part of the world is!
Glad you enjoy it!

Wonderful blog today! Loved the post-apocalyptic eeriness… I wonder if we’ve been taken over by aliens making us yawn this much. It couldn’t have anything to do with late nights and general festive indulgencies of recent days.

Snorkles, for the last time, bluebottles dont cause fungal infections. Ask Dr. John if you dont believe me..
See you tomorrow. Dont forget your horns!

1/ Yes, more publicity depending on your state of clothing.
2/ No, actually yes, rule 37 part 4 – tick start stung rule. credit applies if in Pink cap (or blue cap for the higher qualified swimmers according to the sunrise show) is worn at time of sting. 😉

This keeps the memories of my own spell at Manly fresh! Clearly others share my experiences of coming back towards the surf, seemingly making little progress, then either catching a big wave or getting monstered from behind by one that has just broken. The bluebottles can be done without though! (I had a first hand (left arm actually) experience of one at Curl Curl.)
Merry Christmas to all of you from a sopping wet but mild England!
