2012 what an AMAZING, FANTASTIC year with

Bold and Beautiful!

And …another wonderful start to the day – DESPITE the title of this blog – it was a lovely swim! Well for myself, Fi, Anna, Thomas and John S…As we headed north instead of going to Shelly – too many blue bottle stories circulating!

Big BnB turn out…..

Blog Tart!

Andrew D helping sign in the new people! BIG thanks to him and Simon – it’s a big job! AND thanks to all the NEW volunteers to help out each morning! Bold and Beautiful cannot continue without your help so thank you :-DDD

It looks so tranquil and welcoming – but it was around now when I heard about the blueys!

AND despite heading north – where we bumped into early swimmers who swam to Freshwater – James, Miles, Alex and a few others……I did spot a blue bottle after all!!

We had some underwater fun! 🙂

and a cute stingray joined us!

We arrived back the same time as the Shelly swimmers…all safe and accounted for…

Below photos of the Shelly swim from Simon Cowell:

Great blog again Lesley! Hey, I came across a web site and App, called JellyWatch. You can log jellyfish sightings around the world – I added this mornings Cephea! Not many people are using it- we can own it if we all start logging our sightings and build a good record! Have a look, http://www.jellywatch.org

Great Blog Lesley. Witty, informative, delivered with speed and a quiet elegance.
All that with looks, there IS a god. Well done.
There were two more jelly fish at the point that must not have ticked the attendance sheet.
Looking for LSSA this morning. I’m missing the chess game in the morning. Haha
    Come back soon.
Thank you Thomas for asking if I had a whale story for you at the blue water.
Don’t forget to ask about dolphins the next time I see you and yes, Johny S does have a whale story for you, I know and yes Thomas, Johny S does have a whale badge and yes Thomas, I do not have a whale badge.

    😀
    Thank you beautiful swimmers for
    a) discreetly hanging around me and Tomas in support as we swam north today (Lesley, Fiona, John S) Great to have your company!
    b) inviting Tomas to get breakky with you at Bluewater as his mum was enjoying a girlie chat on the sunny beach wall (John S, Shaun, Vena, Andrew D)
    c) through your existence reminding me of the obiquitous kindness and goodness of the human heart
    d) providing, at record time!, a wonderful and funny daily blog (Lesley – well done)

Well blogged Lesley, as usual. Best Monday blog in ages!
Particularly pleased with the fact that Annie (yay, I’ve found my smurf suit in a tree!) didnt get a single shot in today.
Only one thing, Lesley, can i ask you to tell me beforehand when you swap blog days with other bloggers? I’ve been following Robbie for most of today’s swim, only to find out (last minute) that you had swapped blog duty this week. What a waste of effort! Glad Simon stepped up and delivererd the customary blog tart shot at shelly.
Rob, good to see you in the white see-thru rashie this morning. Stick with it. The ladies love it. No matter what they might say publicly..
See you all tomorrow mornig. Remember, New Years Day swim counts as 10k on Pacific Challenge! 20k if you swm with your eyes closed, DWSS! Just confirmed this with Michael..

    Anna:
Always my great pleasure to be anywhere near your sunny little face in that great big ocean. Se you out there next year…xx

  • annie "yay" I found my smurf suit in a tree

    31/12/2012 at 1:13 pm

Indeed, I went to great PR lengths to lose the smurf suit, go bush and reunite tree hug style. Obviously 2013 requires a rethink of the blog tarting direction required to compete in a dog eat dog world or should I say bold eat beautiful world. Oh yes and perhaps an announcement needs to be made prior to swim as to who is going the blog that day… I am sure they would greatly appreciate having a gaggle of blog tarts performing acrobatics on demand!!!
So clear this morning…much activity underwater. Great last 2012 blog lesley!
    P.S. Bolds Rock 2013 YAY!

    Hi All,
    Great swim this morning,
To see today’s video click on the link below:
    http://youtu.be/It2NQJDpp-Y
Good news: Today’s video is in very hi-res,
Bad news: It couldn’t be edited as usual so another alternative had to be used, but still worth having a look at the clip as it has some nice underwater shots.
Happy NYE everyone and see you tomorrow.
    Mauricio

I heard later today it swung around and was spotted in 10ft of water at shelly

You remember back in school Rainer, when you used to tell everyone that you hated that girl called Gertrude who sat beside you? You used to pull her hair and make fun of her all the time but deep down the reason you did it was because you secretly loved her?
    I get it.
I love you too, just not in that way.
Oh and that’s not a white see through rashie, that is…….oh wait, I see what you guys did there.
See you Wednesday where I believe Lesley will be doing a blog where she reveals a number of intimate details about herself. *Evil laugh*

Well Anna, you illustrated Point c) perfectly – seems I had a tussle with the only bluey in Cabbage Tree Bay, VERY unpleasant. Stephen let me into the changing room to have a hot shower and Anna jumped straight out of hers and pushed me in. Then Michelle gave me Ibuprofen and antihistamine tablets, and THEN Anna smothered me in her beautiful (and probably really expensive) special soft Pawpaw cream. Recovered really quickly with all the nursing and attention – what a gorgeous bunch of folk you are!

What’s that Tomas, you want to hear about the whale?????
I actually have two whale stories. One occurred last year while surfing and one occurred this year swimming all by myself (with a few tagger-onners) to Shelley. But I’m not one to boast or self promote!
I’ll tell you all about them both someday. It should be noted that Shaun, unfortunately, only has one Dolphin story and that was the day after he turned 50 and imbibed in some hallucinatory jelly fish, so without witnesses it’s questionable (probably some sand whiting actually) but we humour him anyway cause he’s a loveable bloke!
Lesley, lovely informative blog as usual, delivered with panache, courage with a straight talking, taking no prisoners, telling it like it is style that in enviable by others and lifelike in its telling. I feel like I was there!
I love the underwater shot of Fifi and whoever the bloke is, gee, he’s got huge arms and lats!
    ;-))

Another fantastic video Mauricio, thank you!
I watched you standing on the bottom of the ocean videoing the swimmers above you. I couldn’t even hold my breath for that long let alone stand on the bottom of the ocean !
One of B&B asked me at Shelly if I’d seen “the guy standing on the sea floor who didn’t even have a tank on or weight belt on!”
True – You are a real merman 🙂

    31/12/2012 at 5:48 pm

Great blog as always Lesley 🙂
What an amazing year it has been. B&B is now up to 3890 swimmers in total who have swum with us, and they’re only the ones we know about !
Over 1000 of those have swum at least once in the last 3 weeks. Phenomenal !!
Bring on 4000 and a wonderful, happy and healthy 2013 for all of us.
B&B is best, lots of love ‘n happiness to you all xxx

Also from the far side of the world, may I add my wishes for a happy and active 2013 with even more superb swimming.
It doesn’t seem a month since I flew back to cold soggy England!
I hope to visit Manly and swim again with the B&B in the future…don’t know when though.
