9/2/2013 – Perfect Day for a Swim!

09/02/201323

Happy Saturday everyone! Good morning Manly! Everyone is up and about this morning… These are the mornings we dream about…The sun was up at 6:24am and it only got down to 21.6c last night.

243 of us (inc 23 new swimmers) thought it was time to start living the dream!

There was the usual summer North East swell looking a little choppy, which is the PERFECT thing to wake you up!

There was a bit of discussion at the ramp about whether our little blue friends would be here… should we maybe swim in the harbour?

Rosie was smiling …

Simon was in disguise..

There’s always lots going on on Saturday..

After a false start or two… someone brought out a can of HTFU spray and off we went!

The water was 22.5c… beautiful…

Rock n Roll at the point..

JK’s call was a good one this morning… something like “Let’s go and get outta here!”

It was bouncy all the way over.. I don’t know if you can ever go back to swimming in a pool again after a few of these swims.. they are the best! I thought it would be impossible to find any sea life below the waves but there was a bit of action just off Shelley beach..

…and also… our newest blog tarts…. as they are here every day now…

After a quick rinse and spin cycle in the washing machine…

Here’s the only little blue friend we saw all day…

Back for breakfast..

One more time through the wash cycle…

…and see you all next week for more fun!

Don’t forget Feb 23 is the LAST 10k swim of the summer .. please register your interest with “shaken – not stirred” Bond… John Bond

Annie we’ve got some HTFU spray but it won’t help with the goggles 🙁
    Hope someone finds them!

I thought the HTFU spray was handed out to harbour side swimmers anyway?

The smurfs rallied and came the the rescue! You can all stop looking everyone (I know you were most concerned)…. they have appeared in a nameless bolds’ bag…. Yay!! Now if only finding an enjoyable job was this easy…..

Sorry to let you down, Lips, Nick & all …… we decided to take Mum to Dee Why for a life-saving carnival and breakfast, though really I see no reason to bother taking visitors past the B&B and Manly:)
    See you all tomorrow!

I was asked to share the link of the cuttlefish again so once we are still waiting for the water to clear up a bit, here it is:

It was a good swim in the harour this morning, very green but nice, someone even spoted a turtle!
    Great photos and blog Nick!

Yes well done Krystyna, Elaine and Ted the newcomers to the 6k and the not so slow Ian and Vanessa. Michael was very gracious about our pace as well.
Brendan and I like the company on our Saturday 6k so let’s hope we have created a few more addicts with this weeks group.
007 I reckon a few of them could be turned into 10k ers without too much effort so put a bit of work in on them in the next 2 weeks and you may have a bumper field for the 23rd.

Great blog Nickster! Thanks 6 krs for your support. Well worth it. Very scenic swim especially between toiletrolls and Little Manly. Who are the coloured caps?

Yes the 6km swim was great and I’d encourage all of you to give it a go. Thanks for the support everyone. I’m definitely up for the 10km swim on 23rd which will be the last chance to do it before next Summer.LSA I will have overtaken you on the PC. That will teach you to take your Mum and Henchy Jon to The Boatshed and miss out on Saturday swims!

Just sitting here reading the instructions on the can of HTFU.
“Best applied verbably by one’s peers, has greatest penitration effect when applied under pressure, particularly in conditions of 15C or below, also effective when absense of training is evident”.
Recommended by 100 out of 100 swim coaches that are on the pool deck at 5 am and have not yet had a coffee fix.

Please add one for on attendance and 6 km swim.
