Another stunning sunrise this morning folks…. somewhere in Australia – but not here 🙂 I didn’t have to look far for metaphors on the Sydney weather this morning.. but you know the water is going to be nice and warm (21.7c)

No shortage of happy faces…

….and some were looking serious… Is that Brian without a wetsuit? Careful you don’t look directly at the legs, … temporary blindness!

Today is the last chance for the 10k and 6k swims.. there was some brief strategy discussion, and it was decided the 10k would be acheived by 67 laps of the Shelley/point swim.

7am.. JK makes the call.. off we go…

Wabbit season / Duck season / wabbit season / duck season…

Now.. there was an awesome little channel/rip a few metres offshore this morning which was very entertaining… the water was moving fast and deep and a few lost their feet..

Errr Midge… ummm… watch the step…

Ummm Anna… watch the… step…

OK ladies… just watch.. this is how you do it…

*Note: No Annas or Midges were harmed durning the making of this blog *
The swim was great today.. water was superb… surprisingly not murky you could see the bottom most of the way over…

Shelley was nice too..

Good to see all our marine friends made it through the last 2 weeks of Sydney weather…

Good luck 6k and 10k swimmers!

Lovely fish photos, Rick! Didja know those very slender tiny striped fishes in big schools are called Hulafish? Isn’t that a great name.

Hah love it Jane.. there were thousands of them all over the place. There seems to be a lot of reproduction going on right now!?

Yes, a lovely little, tranquil swim – that is apart from the swell, seriously choppy water, heavy rain (felt like sleet or even hail), boat-ramming, having to do a lot more than 67 laps, no refreshment since yesterday…… and btw, I got the coveted 10k badge:-))
Special thanks to Paige who stayed with me, inspiring me all the way. It really was fun all the way!
Funniest episode was when we found we were the only ones out there and thought everyone else had dropped out at 6k. Turns out they had time to go out and have a relaxing, fortifying mid-swim breakfast whilst we valiantly continued to fight the elements to make up our lost ks:-)
Maureen, the first grape at the end was the most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten. Thank you! Also to Jon for the cup of green tea planted in the sand at Shelly:-))

Congratulations Sarah.
Today – you are the inspiration!!!!
As a wise man once said to me – Not many people can say they have swum 10 KM.
Go girl.
And congratulations to ALL the 6K and 10K ers.
On a day like today, it will not be termed a “soft” swim.

You are amazing Little Sarah and Paige and all other 10 km swimmers! In such conditions too. Think our 10 km swim will have to wait until next year but you guys are so deserving of that badge.
Were there really all those fish today Nick? Wow it cleared quick from yesterday. Great blog again Nickster. look forward to tomorrow!

Thx & yes, congratulations to all the other non-soft 6 & 10kers!!!
Seriously, Paige deserves a double-badge. She was the one shivering from when we first hit Shelly. Swimming with a super-slow, finless, cramping partner for 10K AND smiling all the way is no mean feat.
I was so glad it was your idea, Paige:-))

Amazing all the 10kers (and 6kers)! Well done.
Yep all those fish were today 🙂
It must be a lot clearer than yesterday they were all hanging in between the rocks so they’ve probably taken a beating in the couple of weeks…

Great photos above and below. Surprising how clear the fish pics are considering the conditions above.
Well done to all the swimmers who completed the 6k and 10k Challenges today despite choppy water, rain and variable water temperatures. Also a great effort by the first timers.
A special thank you to Maureen and Annette who met the 10kers on the beach with much appreciated food and drink supplies.

Don’t do it Squirrel. By the time HKTQ takes her cut, there is nothing left.
Not even enough $ to get a swimless shelly tick.
Im a bit worried about Lips as well. He has not been around for a while,
Is he now a victim of Henchy John???

Yeh, Lips, where are you? I thought you’d be back today, keeping me laughing for the long haul…… next time – now everyone should know they can do it!!
btw, for those interested, it took me 4hrs 45 mins without a break. Is that a record?
And SS, just for Lainey, I’ll forego my cut.

I agreed John. Thanks so much Maureen and Annette for all the wonderful sports drinks, water, jelly snakes mars bars, grapes, muesli bars and more…and for hanging around for 4 1/2 hours in the wind and rain while we plodded away
