26/04/2013 – Bliss Pill (take one a day before morning coffee)

26/04/201311

..or as profesionally prescribed 🙂

I know I’m preachin’ to the converted here, but seriously. Look at these people’s faces. You’d think they’re on drugs, and I guess it depends on how you define ‘drugs’ but this one sure is a) addictive, b) makes you forget the strife of daily life, and c) bliss enducing. No known adverse side effects apart from mild shivering towards the end (for some of us at least).

But if you swim every day, even cold water whimps like me seem to accept the gradual decline in temperature. The ocean was 20 degrees today, and 174 people came to worship, including 7 newly converted. Welcome.

The blissed-out people in the previous photos (Nicole, Roberto, Sabine, Adam, Tracey, Brenton and a pensive John S) arrive back from an earlier than thou session, while the rest of the congregation enters the 7am water which may or may not be holy.

The camera was temporarily distracted by the general hunkiness of these two early swimmers and found it hard to remain focused, but luckily it regained its senses in time to capture the spectacular tattoos.

Meanwhile, the bells were ringing for the 7am mass (i.e. mass exodus down the ramp).

Half way through the sermon we enjoy a little break at Shelly Beach.

Some blog tarts are desperate to feature in the daily blog. This one, who shall remain anonymous but let’s call her Michelle (not her real name), followed me and the camera around like sticky post-it notes.

There was no post-swim wine or biscuits, but there was cake.

Praised be the bakers and also Lori who bought the cake for birthday boy Nick.

Thanks also to whoever organised the rent-a-crowd, the hip-hop performer and the Free Hugs and Kisses Lady. Nice touch, and much appreciated, said Nick.

The other B&B swimmer celebrating his birthday today is our very own Hong Kong King Jon Abbott. Happy blissful birthday to you too, Jon! (and sorry the camera didn’t catch you this morning)

For the diary . . .

SAVE the date for the next B&B Dinner on May 7 at Bluewater.  Great value meal of $20 and all the fun you can have out of the water. . . within reason that is.  Meal kicks off at 6.30pm.

With the autumnal chill picking up, make a B&B Hoodie part of your wardrobe.  Check out the merchandise on the website.

Also, $10 gets you a Bold&Beautiful discount card ….discounts range from $2 coffees from Bluewater to discounts on a present from Pearls De Tahiti. Just show your B&B discount card! (you can get these cards from ..Lesley any morning down at the swim)

Thanks to all for all the rousing happy birthday at Shelly and all the good wishes at Bluewater. A great start to the day, not to mention the double with a select few.
Anna, no problem, your camera was obviously fully stretched with other happy faces!
Little Tiger, thanks, and hope to see you soon.
Lips, didn’t know you were close enough to tell!

Happy Birthday Jon, Nick and another very low-profile B&B swimmer:-)
Jon and I are about to set out for a swim to Queensie testing a visibility safety device which could be just the thing for those Boulderdashes in the dark. We’re going to test putting our keys, purse and towels in it so as not to leave them on the beach as well….
So if you’re around North Steyne and Queensie now, Anna, there’s another chance to catch Jon with his presie:-))

Thanks for the cakes at Bluewater too, Jon!

Thanks, John. My fault for staying on to do the double (which, as usual, I’m very glad I did!).
Looking forward to a body surf when the next decent swell comes through.
