30/04/13 – We came, we swam, we ate breakfast

30/04/201310

A little sliver of
sun appeared through the clouds for just a moment – but it was long enough to highlight The Point.

Despite the
greyness of the sky, there was a decent turn-out of 139 for the Tuesday
swim.

Early preparations are being made as winter is coming.  Krystyna has developed a clever device for a post-swim warm shower which she was enthusiastically demonstrating.

What we lacked today in sunshine we made up for in water temperature – a whole degree warmer than yesterday.  At 21.3 degrees it was a little more comfortable in the water.  For those of you reading this in other climates – keep in mind we are now two-thirds the way through autumn.

In the churned up water
Sarah Eade let out a squeal – not because it was cold but the sting ray she
stood on took off at speed!  I wonder who
was more surprised.

Very good B&B’ers at The Point 🙂

Visibility was not
great – so not too many photos of the fishy variety.  However, there was a new arrival in the
spiritual home of the B&B – a squad of Barrenjoey Breakers.

They heard we were a friendly mob so made the
trip down the peninsula to join in the swim.
Do hope they come back as I especially liked the Snoopyesk swim cap.

Just a few fishy friends found on the way back into Manly.  Looks like they have already started their breakfast. . .

Which is just what we did next.  And a perfect day
for breakfast.  Yum!!  Not too crowded, speedy delivery of the
scrambled eggs plus the tea was lovely and hot. . . Bliss

Special congratulations
to Bruce Baird and John Bond on their well earned results in the Cronulla Shark
Island Swim on Sunday.  Bruce placed
first in his category and John placed second.
Very inspiring!

Overall, a great
morning! Who needs sun. . .

Great blog Mary! And you’re welcome for not photo bombing your underwater shots when I had the chance.
Love the Barrenjoey Breakers Snoopy caps!!
LSA, have a great birthday swim tomorrow. Sorry I won’t be there myself. I’m sure Lesbutt will give you plenty of blog coverage though!

BTW, that’s our own Neil MacKenzie with them in the pink cap. He has infiltrated their ranks and brought them in from the cold. Well done Agent MacKenzie.

Jobs getting in the way of Special Celebrations here for some!
If Aus is serious about forging a closer relationship with China, Baby Maier and I are going to insist that May 1, Labour Day, become a public holiday here as well.
    Good luck Baby Maier:-)
