The eloquent Eleanor Roosevelt is quoted as
saying, “Do one thing everyday that scares you.”
Well, with sun rise at 6.59am, air temperature
of 8 degrees and water temperature 18 degrees, there were 114 B&B swimmers
prepared to shrug off the comfort zone and challenge themselves.
The beauty of the sunrise can distract you
for a moment, but the muttering of ‘it’s time’, can’t hide the fact that all
those lovely warm layers are about to come off!
But the early lappers have managed it in the dark – so it can’t be all that bad.
As ever, it is the getting in that is the
hardest bit. But the trick is to do it
with a friend, keep talking and you won’t notice that you are getting wet.
Once at the point you can let the sunrise
distract you again.
The water is not really that deep. It is just that by staying submerged there is less of the Shelly Shiver! However, the turnaround at Shelly is a shortening. .
.
then soon we are off again with a flourish.
The fish are darting shadows in the cloudy water.
So nothing spectacular today. . .
especially as I was beginning to turn into a greater numb fish myself!!
Manly welcomes us back with perfect sunshine.
As winter deepens it is important to keep
your muscles stretched and toned. One
way of doing this is through yoga. Our
wonderful sponsor Power Living provides a fabulous discount to B&B
swimmers. If you haven’t been to Power Living before, then your first 10 days
are unlimited for just $20. After that,
as a card carrying B&B swimmer, Power Living give you the
concession rate for all classes! Such a
great deal. No B&B card!! Not a problem; see Lesley after the swim –
they are just $10.

Mary, lovely professionally written blog, catering to the sun worshippers, people watches, fish lovers, swimmers and non-swimmers alike.
Which reminds me…. DWSS how did you get a tick organised when we were in a meeting together 20 km away from Manly at the time?
Great shot of Mariah and Nick. Fly on the wall time.
hehehe

John S I saw him at Drinks Express. Hopefully I still rank above suspicion of Integrity Infraction in this group at least. And yes, I was on the Drinks Express, you can ask Jim Stackpool “trust me, I’m an accountant”. Or ask Drinky himself.

Not sure that I know about the click on option. . . However, I do have additional photos of the black cossie butt where you can see a little more of the swimmer – well their butt anyhow. However. as I not used to examining my swim buddies from that angle, it was not possible to determine who it is…
