25/06/2013 – We don’t do anything by ‘halfs’!

25/06/201331

 The big waves are BACK!!

A book light was donated by John Paul for the oldies to sign in! 😉

Yes most of us decided to go to half way!!

It was still a beautiful sunrise

Pink Tarts!

On the way to half way!

Even half way was getting pounded…

It looked safe to go in at one point….

And then the big ones arrived!

Around this point we realised someone might have got hurt!? This is how I heard the story: Melissa C was standing on the beach and that big wave in the picture above PICKED her UP and pushed her through the rails!!!  Melissa are you ok???

When we turned around this is what we saw… Elaine taking photos…no no the beautiful sunrise 🙂

At Shelly everyone was very excited by the fun we had! Some people came in from the beach, some half way and some went to Shelly and swam to the boat and back – although the boat kept moving away!!

Getting back in at halfway was a challenge!!

John Kelly holding on for dear life!

Yep the waves were big!

Love the photo of John Kelly who now originates from Yorkshire not Lancashire. Infact love all the photos! What a better than expected swim! I’ve just called Melissa and left a message. Hope she is ok 🙁

Looks such fun, except for poor Melissa! Really hope I can join tomorrow. At least I made brekkie today, so ‘on the mend’:-)

Great swim – lovely waves in the Bay: a reminder that we’re swimming in the ocean! Good pics of the waves as half-way Lesbubbles.

Hi Sarah – thought i could find you on here!
Just wanted to let you know that I noticed a 60+ category for the Revolution Asia Ocean Swim Series in HK! Hopefully you’ll be back in town for one of these. Water temp over this way is much nicer than Manly (not sure about the quality or clarity though :-))

    Take care

It was lovely of all of you to join me at Half way today, I felt very loved. That is until I decided it was all too much and I would walk round to Shelly.
Well done to all those strong swimmers (oh and Lips)

Please do what you can. Give her the sexist rundown and see if that does the trick!! The only way I’ll ever get a medal is if there are three or less entrants in my category!
Huge shock to the system adjusting from Hong Kong mid-summer temps to Manly mid-winter temps…. but do hope you’ll join your Mum (Jill) and I with the B&B when you next visit. Hope to see you at Big Wave Bay when next back in HK too!

Yeh, they have a few uses including part protection from stingers, rails and rocks!
Worth keeping in mind, everyone, that I think we (the group) have probably had more injuries at Half Way than anywhere else, so take care!

Lovely seeing you this morning Snorks!
As you know, I’m a slow swimmer, so I didnt make it to Shelly in time to witness your 20 sec dip in the water. Did you actually get in all the way, i.e. waist deep?

  • Lips

    25/06/2013 at 3:57 pm

Missed you this morning LSA! Hope you’re fit for 6:59 service tomorrow!!

This is a terrible blog, really expected more on a Tuesday. Usually Mary does a great job….but this is just as bad as the tosh served up on a Wednesday. 0/10

    Rasberry!!! :-p
Poor Mary…. you’ll have her again tomorrow! 😀

    25/06/2013 at 4:17 pm

I’ll be there for sure now I know there’s a “20 sec dip” service for invalids like Snorks and me. One or two others at brekkie were singing its praises too:-)
Lost my voice now, but that shouldn’t be a problem for the dip, only for brekkie chatter…

The swim was very confusing! I am not sure who went where!
BnB’ers arriving at Shelly from 3 different directions!

    Dear The Management,
Kindly requesting an amendment of the records. Despite having swum this morning (Shelly to Shelly via the boat) I don’t seem to be listed as having attended nor credited with my winter swim. Pretty sure I ticked. Enlargement of the photo evidence (picture of clipboard light) may be required! I also notice that Melissa of the battered and bruised body is also not listed as attending. I’m sure her body will tell her otherwise. Your assistance appreciated. Cheers… Anne E

  • Lips

    25/06/2013 at 5:51 pm

Well, technically, Melissa didn’t ‘swim’, did she? 🙂
Just kidding, none of today’s ticks seem to have registered yet. What you’re seeing is yesterday’s stats.
I’m sure Ian and his offshore team in Bangalore will fix it up shortly.

    25/06/2013 at 6:23 pm

Yes there’s a strike with off shore team! Trying to sort now… They actually want to get paid can u believe it!
Actually truth is I am doing attendance today…and didnt get chance to do it till now and having probs with internet! Sorry Ian!!

  • Elizabeth

    25/06/2013 at 6:32 pm

I swam today too and my name does not appear either. Please tell me how to fix up

  • Elizabeth

    25/06/2013 at 6:33 pm

So does that mean I will have my name added – please say yes!

  • DWSS

    25/06/2013 at 6:51 pm

Hi Sarah, I don’t think we have had any rescues from 1/2 way though.
It must be a safe option, Lips does it every day no matter what the conditions! 🙂
This should be renamed HKTQ’s blog.
I can’t believe your now managing your triad business in Hong Kong via the blog!!
Organising the influencing officials from a another country.
    Back to you Sarah
    Sorry for interrupting . Hehe

Thank you for letting me join the BandB
I’m going for the www!! This group is awesome !!

    25/06/2013 at 8:43 pm

Thanks, Leslie. Appreciate your efforts so take your time. It’s such a relief to have a ‘real person’ to answer our enquiries. Not like the Bangalore team! Cheers

  • Little Sarah aka LSA aka HKTQ

    25/06/2013 at 8:52 pm

Oh yes, we’ve also been helping with Snowden’s Big Escape, didn’t you know?
And I do remember at least one 1/2 way rescue and it wasn’t Lips, though he has been a 1/2 way rescuer of many ladies, now I think of it!

  • Little Sarah aka LSA aka HKTQ

    25/06/2013 at 8:56 pm

YES, as soon as the strike is over and unless Leslie decides to wipe out today’s ticks and watch a movie or get some sleep instead:-)
Great job that she, Ian and the Bangalore Team do!

  • Greg McDonagh

    25/06/2013 at 9:04 pm

I also Seem to have missed out on recording of my attendance –maybe give me a free tick on a day I dont attend ?
A good tip—-Dont forget to look back at the waves as we come into half way and remove flippers before approaching and landing.
