28/06/13 – A quickie with Julie

28/06/201314

The excitement carries on! Yesterday, many were the swimmers happy to see our swim squad founder on her first day back swimming with us, if only for four days before she goes back to her medical textbooks waiting impatiently for her in WA.

More people were reunited with Julie this morning, including myself. We picked up right where we were last time we saw each other, so a little snog in the dark was not out of place. Those who missed out couldn’t conceal their disappointment.

…but quickly found an interesting distraction…

Lots of cuddles for Jules.

A petition was passed around in the dark, rallying support for more daylight around 7am. Everyone was keen to put their name behind this very worthwhile cause.

Sure, there was torrential rain around the time of getting out of bed, but we were determined not to get wet.

Quick assessment of conditions – the vast majority of us decided the halfway option was today 100 per cent satisfactory.

As confirmed by some other early lappers.

Halfway looked so much more inviting.

There’s nothing more natural on a dark, rainy winter morning like this one, than to get undressed and get ready for a delightful swim in the ocean.

Again, it’s important to stay dry.

The streets of Manly were cleared of dog poo, cigarette butts and miscellaneous dirt particles.

Let’s get in!

Come on Elaine, you too.

It may have been early days, but by the time we reached Shelly Beach, nobody was displaying any symptoms of giardia, salmonella or e-coli.

So we thought what the heck, let’s swim back to halfway now. The water’s a yellowy-brown colour and with a bitsy consistency, but it’s probably safe.

More hugs for Jules.

This is the point at which we realised the real reason for Julie’s quick visit. Cap inspection! Three swimmers were caught in non-regulation colours. Oh-oh. You guys are so sprung.

“What a gorgeous swim”, concluded John Kelly as the group wandered back, not in a particular hurry to get to work. “Beautiful conditions”, said Elaine and snapped a pic.

Today was such a wet day, some people swam with gumboots on.

And look who Brenton has persuaded to join our swim group – none less than the gorgeous Kate who serves our Bluewater coffees with a smile every morning. This was Kate’s first day with us. Well done, Kate!

If the weather conditions have made you look with fresh eyes on your house and you feel it’s time to get a new place, you know you will be looked after by our fellow swimmer and sponsor Adam Moore from McGrath Real Estate.

And that’s all for this time from Girl Friday blogger Anna, who is chuffed to have Julie back, even if it’s for a few days only. Thanks for the quickie, Jules. xx

Thanks Anna! I see I wasn’t imagining how dark and wet it was this morning and yet such fun to be out there with this lovely, B&B family, selecting the appropriate option for each of us!
    Beautifully captured!
Jules & I chatted about the amazing Bloggers and blogs and how incredibly well the B&B was running!

Jules, congratulations another first – I believe you set an all time record for blog tarting today without a single bomb! Rainer, Snorks and LSA/HKGTQ to verify.

Jules, congratulations – another first! I believe you’ve set a new record for blog tarting today – without a single bomb, Rainer and LSA/HKTQ to verify after Snorks consults the Spreddy!

Not sure if Jules bombed the pic of Lips, Lainey and I or if we bombed the pic of Jules with her tongue out, ready to give the “Let’s Go”!
I’ll let Lips be the impartial arbiter.

Katie, so glad you made your first B&B swim and get to go home with your pink cap! Thank you for all your wonderful service at Bluewater. We’ll miss you a lot when you go back to England next week!

Interesting how good the photoshopping is on photo 23 with LSA, E-laine and Lips in the background.
You can hardly see where they have been inserted into the image!
Almost like it’s been done by a professional.
However look closely and you can see the tell-tale signs of fuzziness around the edges of the figures.
Alas the work of the integrity police is never done, but DWSS, myself and others like us will ultimately conquer evil in all its forms and light, truth and goodness will prevail, rising to the surface like froth on a well pulled beer…like Superman versus Lex Luthor….like the cream in a leftover grasshopper…..like fungus on a four day old Big Mac pattie……and evil will sink into the murky depths of Shelley like a Manly street dog-poo on a rainy day!
Its great to see the water so flocculated after the rain!
And beautiful Anna, a beautiful blog again…..now if only you’d wear that purple teletubby onesie for me!

Great to see you back Jules! Richard and I have been sick, so no swimming this week for us 🙁
Will pop down tomorrow though to say “Hi”.

John – thanks for pointing that out as blog spreddy queen and recorder of all blog tarts appearances in said blog it is important to note they need to have been actually at the swim. The only other qualification is ‘B&B on Tour’ whereby said B&B person may be in some other place with a pink official B&B cap on head. I’ll remove them from todays count if you think fitting?

Sarah – please dont let Lips arbitrate anything – having only two blog scripts to his name does not qualify him as such!
