I have to apologise – when I went to do the blog I noticed most of my photos were of Sarah and Elaine! I think the cold got into my brain faster than normal! 🙂
Sarah had her ‘500 km swim’ today…here she is with Toohey and his mate congratulating her!
Message from Sarah..
Sarah and newbie E-llen!
Ooh I don’t they are in this photo! But you can see how lovely it was out there today – the cloudy-ness didn’t put 99 swimmers off!!
Big enormous back! All that swimming!!
Oh…Elaine and John Bond splashing cold water on each other – it feels like hell when someone splashes you getting in huh!
I thought ‘now here’s a general photo of the swim’ but I think it’s Elaine again!
Oh there they are! I think this is a group photo for Sarah’s 500 km swim!
Jeff Parson’s was the birthday boy AND the Let’s Goer today! he really enjoyed himself!
Here’s Jeff again and yep that’s Elaine with her head in the water next to him!
And then my camera died! 🙁
This is my 3rd winter without a wetsuit and I gotta say it is NOWHERE near as bad as my first one when I would nearly passout from cold! So I reckon you non-wetsuiters should stick it out! It is so worth it! And as James P who is not wearing a wetsuit this year (and was a total CONFIRMED wetsuit wearer in the past) said to me yesterday “you definitely feel MORE amazing not wearing a wetsuit”
******
Ooh someone said they spotted a Bold and Beautiful cap the day the Whale knocked the surfer out in Bondi… I think I found him! Of course we were there – we are everywhere! 😀

Staying safe
With the return of the winter swell, remember that there are no badges
for scaring yourself silly! While it is
great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe

Sorry for hogging the blog! Won’t be in it for nearly a week though as we are heading up the coast. We’ll be reading the blog every day and probably feeling twinges of envy that we aren’t with you all! Thank you for making it such an amazing start to the day. Thanks to Lesbubbles too for doing such a lot behind the scenes 🙂

No need to apologise, Lesbubbles! Toohey, his mate and I are all happy with the shots!
Lainey thought she could pass herself off as a new member and thought no one would recognise her:-)

500K – as my sign-in Oscar speech didn’t get published, again special thanks to all of you B&Bs and especially to Jon & Lips who, between them, have kept me company (and stopped me getting cranky) for most of those swims way behind the back of the pack.
… and special thanks to Jules for creating a group for seriously odd-ball, quirky swimmers, inclusive of even those of us who can barely doggy-paddle to the point when we start!

…and then, Lesbubbles, Ian, JK and all who keep the show on the road, the Bloggers, all you kind and funny friends, Paige on the 10K and all other swimming companions, the fish, dolphins & Mrs Whale…. and finally…. our own corrupt Integrity Police who set the example of breaking every rule in the book:-)

So that I can get my 500 km badge within 5 years, i am getting up the courage to do a double (on a suitable day). How many km does a double amount to? How do I note it on the roll? No rush to reply as it is unlikely to be soon….

sorry Elizabeth…Doubles don’t count..well in terms of ‘point’ but they count in terms of ‘hard core or health terms’!

… and great training for the Boulderdash, 6K & 10k which do count:-)
If anyone has ever wondered about the REAL truth about how Lips and DWSS got their names, go back and read all the comments under yesterday’s blog – hilarious:-)))) Always worth checking in just before you go to bed!

Renae – the colour represent your ‘fashion score’. Calculated by management daily. They rate everyone’s swimming costumes on a scale of 1 to 10 and calculate the 2-week rolling average to arrive at the appropriate colour on the winter badge chart. Very few people are aware of this.

It was Michael Morgan who swam with us about a month ago for his first time and his two daughters Lily and Bronte.
He was the hot fit guy with Abs and Bondi Iceberg sluggos you were perving at Les Bubbles! (that should jog ur memory).

HKTQ, My acceptance speech was sooo much better, much more sincere, genuine and humble.
LSA, don’t forget you’ll need to do another one in about a month when you actually complete 500kms!

Congratulations LSA
I am honoured to swim along side you.
Just out of interest, this IS the hypotenuse 500km isn’t it. The real 500kmin in around 2 months from now?
Ill do the maths and let you know.

Right Nick, of course you would say that.. with one of the lowest fashion scores this winter.

Thanks to you and Storchy for the congratulations!
I can honestly say that everyone of my swims has been officially approved by Jules and thank goodness it is her and not you guys in charge!
At least I’ve never done an Old & Bold and tick or a Surf and tick or a Can’t get my Head wet and tick:-))
Greg will also tell you about the scary old days when I’d always come back through the big surf whilst Jules and all the sensible swimmers would take the Hallf Way route – takes us all time to learn our limits and what’s fun!

Thank you Sarah
You will not hear this from the celebrity formally known as Rainer and
most swimmers do not know this. Snorks shared with me one morning before scooting around to 1/2 way.
Snorks Sharon-
Casey Kelp – Snorks
snorks.wikia.com/wiki/Casey_Kelp
Casey Kelp is the female lead character on “The Snorks,” and is very likeable. She’s brave…
I’m not sure if I’m on the right track there or if has something to do with excessive air intake?

I just watched a few episodes of ‘The Snorks’ and have to admit DWSS is spot on..
Casey Kelp is a spitting image of Sharon!
