9/8/13 – Back to Fine and Sunny!

09/08/201324

Friday August 9 – It’s about 7c at 6:30am – another beautiful sunrise coming up!

I don’t know what happened yesterday with the weather – Sheesh Elaine, I thought you said thursday’s were the best days??

On the way down to the surf club, the Integrity Police were watching over Storchy’s boot camp. (Is that watching or slacking off?)

The sunrise was up to standard for a friday…

A good strategy is to keep the ears warm… It’s all about the ears…..

Merilyn came all the way from Canberra -She wins this weeks distance award!

Some ticked on the way out of the water..

A couple of Russian potato farmers discussing the hot weather…

The Australian Olympic Cycle Team has had it’s funding for the 2016 Games cut…

And probably the highest Black to skin ratio this year on the way in…

Except for a small touch of pink….

006.5 again….

The water wasn’t as cold as it looked.. in fact it was nice and clear…

Jalna’s birthday was sung in record time though….

…and she did the “let’s go”

Very surprisingly, there wasn’t that much happening underwater.. the sergeant baker was on lookout duty..

a couple of rays cuddling..

plenty of trevally….

SC saw a couple of PJs – this one looks preggers – (Jane?)

Stats:
Swimmers: 119

Have  great weekend everyone!

James Pittar

James Pittar is a blind marathon swimmer and he is swimming 12km from
Long Reef to North Steyne via Shelly Beach. He would love for 100
swimmers to join him for the last 2km (From Shelly Beach to North Steyne
Beach) and raise funds and awareness for The Fred Hollows Foundation.
His condition caused him to go blind when he was in his 20’s but he
knows how many people are out there in the world that are needlessly
blind.

Great blog as usual Nick. This was the first week since December that Thursday wasn’t one of the best days of the week> Beautiful today and so nice swimming back leisurely with Aly and Annie looking for elusive sea creatures.
Happy Birthday Jalna, that cake was amazing, sort of light and rich at the same time!
    Have a great weekend folks!

Interesting Shaun pose, slacking off, now I know why he’s always at the end of the line, just out of eyesight!
Thanks Nick for the heads up……
Nurse Jalna, have a wonderful day with lots of fairy dust and happiness.

Looks like a great swim today – I’m sorry I missed it! But it’s wonderful to catch up on all the action (or INaction … yes, I’m talking to you Shaun!) via the blog.

    FANTASTIC blog Nick!!!
Thanks for the timing of that photo.
You caught me in transition from a side plank to a one legged side plank.
I chose this position so I could monitor the others to keep the integrity real!!
I guesse you could say the integrity police were on the beat again, yes.
Thank Lesbubs for your support 🙂
Yes you caught me turning North for a late bolderdash. 🙂
Happy birthday Jalna. Your a legend!
Great photos team, can’t get enough of this clear water!

Thanks everyone for my birthday splashes and wishes!!
Such a nice swim this morning.
Shaun I thought you were just watching to make sure everyones form was right, injury prevention first and foremost. They should be thanking you.

How do we get in on Storchy’s slack Camp?

  • Slow Ian

    09/08/2013 at 2:04 pm

DWSS, at least you made it as far as Shelly Beach after your workout. I think it’s a good strategy to conserve your energy for the swim. A certain other person did not even make to the POINT!

    Lesley, DWSS & John
    I’ve been caught out!
And I know by cheating others I’m really only cheating myself!
    I’m sorry.
Slowest Ian, please deduct 50 kms from my Pacific Challenge.

Hi Everyone re: end of blog talking about James Pittar.
I did it with Jules and quite a few others last year and it was great ! especially the feed at the end! 🙂
    The details are:
James will start his swim from Long Reef at 8am and arrive at Shelly Beach at approximately 11.30am. He would love swimmers to join him for the last two kilometres from Shelley Beach to North Steyne Surf Life Saving Club.
Swimmers will enjoy a delicious BBQ, hosted by North Steyne SLSC to celebrate Swim for Sight 2013.
    …………
So basically we swim from Shelly around 11.30 am to North Steyne!! We can do it!

Thank you Jalna, yes correct, I can count on the opinion of a real health professional like yourself to read the REAL situation as presented by the photo.
I was also in transition to a one legged one arm side plank with a twist,
Now GET back to your birthday!

Nick, (assuming you’re the blogger and not James Pittar!), incredible pics! Specially love pic 3 with the pink blobs, the one of mum and daughter diving into the blue and Mrs PJ, along with birthday girl already mentioned….
    Thx for sharing!

    09/08/2013 at 5:24 pm

Yeh, I already warned you about Shauny’s boot-camp antics and ‘variations’.
And Storchy, was it you who struggled again to get to the Point after your work-out?

  • John. S

    09/08/2013 at 5:35 pm

I did jump in today and not swim to the point but as usual did not tick.
Not sure who Slowest Ian is referring to…..
One other from booty camp also didn’t swim to the point but her integrity is unquestionable.
