Special Event – Monthly Dinner – Bluewater Cafe – Next Tuesday 1st October

At
our monthly dinner next Tuesday night at Bluewater Cafe at 6.30 pm we
will be launching the new B&B Attendance App! If you are tired of
waiting in the queue to tick your name off, then the App is an exciting
development. We will have a presentation to show you how you can log on
from your phone/computer before you swim, without having to tick. Come
along and find out all the details.

The dinner is also a great
chance to catch up with your B&B friends at an informal gathering.
The cost is excellent value at $20 for two courses, with $5 drinks, $5 desserts and no corkage for BYO wine. Bluewater also now offers $25 special meals in addition to our standard $20 deal.

Bookings are essential so book early HERE to
avoid disappointment, as numbers will be limited to 100. Remember, the
latest batch of 500 and 1000 km badges will also be presented, so it
should be a HUGE night.

Staying safe

Remember
that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great
to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.

    BOOM!!!
Mid-air photo bomb.. tick! Getting on top of Paige in the PC.. tick! Can this morning get any better?!
HKTQ – congrats to your medals! Jon showing off his six pack. Nice.
Robbie, you’re welcome for rescuing what could have been another Monday train wreck of a blog.

Awesome, love the HK medal contingent. Well done Little Sarah & Jon !! Can’t help but agree with Rainer… the medal does kind set Jon’s 6 pack off nicely 😉
Yeh ok, not a bad photo bomb Rainer 😉

Thx, Robbie, Lips, Jules & all – I know you all appreciate what an achievement it is for me to win a swimming medal – probably on a par with my 10K and Robbie’s Iron Man rolled into one:-))
Just to add some relevant context, it is well over 50 years since I got on the podium any kind of sports race. In fact, as I distinctly remember, last time (the only time) was in Primary 3 when I got 3rd place in the Egg & Spoon Race!
Jon would also have to go back more than well over 50 years – so long, he can’t remember, but knows this is the first time he ever won a GOLD medal! (Greatly assisted by the leading swimmer in his category managing to get disqualified for missing a buoy:-)))

    Congrats Jon and LSA.
    Please come home.
Its getting very hard and disconcerting, consoling my fellow emotionally sensitive (in touch with his feminine side) German friend, Lips, when he cries on my shoulder on a daily basis.
    People are starting to talk!

Robbie, glad to assist Lips in making it a great Blog!
I see you’re a little short of comments still, so here are some facts of our race:
Place: Repulse Bay to South Bay, Hong Kong. 1.4K
Water & Air temp: Perfect! 25c at a super-rough guess
Visibility above water: Spectacular – mountains, islands, beaches
    Visibility below water: zero
Competitors: over 500, but Jon’s gold was in the over 60s and my bronze in the over 50s (unfortunately, no over 60s category for over women or it might have been a gold…..)
Times: neither of us had our glasses on after the race, so couldn’t check….will find out later
Prizes: Delicious muffins and fruit (for all competitors), goggles, aud 100 to spend at a sports shop! (If any of you come and join a couple of races, win a couple of gold medals – will pay for your air-fare!!)

Did I tell you about my medal, Robbie?
Let me just mention that this was in spite of cutting my finger on a barnacle in my warm-up, water in goggles, being pierced by a competitor’s finger nails, getting tied up by a rope attached to a buoy, being bumped by a kayak (trying to prevent me from swimming to Manly) and no Lips to cheer me on with jokes every couple of hundred metres!
Actually, I hate races and have spent a life-time avoiding them, but this is the way to do some unusual swims in Hong Kong, with bags carried, applause, snacks and refreshment and a fun atmosphere too. I just wait for everyone else to start and then go at my own tortoise pace. In fact I didn’t bother to show up at the medal ceremony or look at the results, but was changing and getting First Aid for my barnacled-finger, when someone came over to find me to collect my medal…
Remind me to tell you about it over brekkie, Rob:-)))

Bo Xi Lai’s trial fixed – tick
Vietnamese Triad members recruited – tick
    Thai feasting – tick
6 pack Kung Fu for Jon – tick
Gold Medals (well, I kindly stepped aside for a couple of ladies) – tick
Yes, ON OUR WAY to rescue poor, hapless LIPS who has been left to shoulder the big responsibilities of life single-handedly for too-long:-) Glad to see he can still take a gigantic leap for a worthy cause, such as a photo bomb:-)
I’ve heard: a) Sea-water is a natural hair bleach and b) Sea-water turns artificially bleached hair green. Are either true?

… and I have to thank Young Sergeant Jack for the Race training. When you’re used to racing a teenager wearing flippers in freezing water and surf, entering a flipper-less race in warm, calm water doesn’t seem so bad at all:-)
OK, Robster – done my community service by filling the comment space for the week (though you still a long way to go to reach Lainey’s mega-comment post record).

Little Sarah, is it true you and Jon won a medal?

  • Dolphin Whisperer

    30/09/2013 at 5:36 pm

I was talking to Lippy yesterday and he was as excited as a little girl waiting for a new “my little pony” to be released from the Corso toy emporium,
as he was stuttering while talking to me.
I had to slow him down to understand him, “What , Rainer, What are you trying to say?”
Apparently he would like a Dolphin Onesy and thought your triad clan might be able to make one for him. Something about Lippy being the “real” dolphin whisperer.
    Is that true??

Oops, Sorry Sarah. I interrupted you.
    Back to you…….
