8/10/2013 – It’s gett’in hot in here..

08/10/201326

For those of you who have been waiting for the water to warm up, now is the perfect time to take the plunge and jump in the water.  It was 19.4 degrees this morning, so no more excuses, come on in and join us.

It looks like the long weekend and daylight savings has taken it’s toll on some with fewer swimmers than usual.  Thank god School Holidays are over. Now all of you with Children can kick back and relax. (Jaz & Laura, this doesn’t apply to you. You know we all luv ya.)

We didn’t see Storchy this morning but Stephen found some evidence that he has been lurking around. Feeling the need for some love boys.?? Did you plant these in some fortune cookies?

I got to the beach extra early this morning hoping to catch a sunrise now that it is rising a little later in the morning.  Damn you clouds.  It wasn’t what I had hoped for but always a nice way to start the day.

Two lone B&B Swimmers hit the water at around 6:15am.  They had the whole ocean to themselves, then the 6:30 Drinks Express arrived.

Here are the 6:30 Swimmers, minus Kylie who arrived a few minutes late for the shot. It is a popular group for the people who need to get going early but also want to enjoy their swim before work.

another swimmer who slept in tries to catch the group.

The 6:30 swimmers on their return with Miles leading the way.  This could almost be the front cover of our Calendar boys.  Look out!!!

and the 7am Original group are off.

Stephen, Krystyna, Nick, Toni & I created a little breakaway group yesterday at 9am and we found this blind shark hiding.

Found along the coast of eastern Australia, this nocturnal, bottom-dwelling species is common in rocky areas and seagrass beds from the intertidal zone to a depth of 140 m. It often roams in tidal pools where it may be trapped by the receding tide, and can survive for an extended period out of water. The blind shark is not actually blind; its common name came from its habit of closing its eyes when taken out of the water.

Here is a better one that Nick took. A very Rare find indeed.

These pics are taken of everyone trying to get photos of the blind shark.  Here is a couple of Nick.  We were being rebelious by not wearing our caps in our breakaway group.

The angles you need to get in order to get that great shot.

Stephen checking Toni out. We are very committed to getting the right shot.

There were loads of Port Jackson around the point at Shelly Beach.  They were large also. If you haven’t seen any make sure you head over that way.

A lone blue grouper swims on by.

What a great blog today Renae. Exciting to see the little blind shark, its so shy that it is a treat to catch a glimpse of it.
I’m going to attempt to resume some sort of lemur run at 6am on thursday, if anyone wants to risk turning up.

I thought that I was seeing a baby Port Jackson then Nick went in for futher investigating and told us it was a Blind Shark. It was very exciting. We were there for ages trying to get a good shot, but it was a long way down.
I am sure they will turn up at 6am Fifi. I assume the bolderdash will be starting up soon also, so that would be a good one to do.

    Nice work Renae!
Loved swimming off the Bower in the rock garden – all the PJs are bigger over there!
I woke up at ten to six this morning it felt like midnight… The clouds weren’t helping though….
Could be up for an early run once I adjust to DST 🙂

Great blog Renae, great to see the underwater shots so clear.
Just to clarify, the kiss tickets were a form of revenge from Jaz and Laura.
Unfortunately, our kindness shown in the form of introducing the girls to a few prospective boyfriends was misconstrued.
The girls handed these out yesterday as a form of punishment for us.
Storchy and I must now kiss anyone who presents a ticket.
Just for the record, a few surfclub ladies handed the ticket back, 0 ladies have presented tickets and a few males have taken advantage of the offer, Wilf being the most memorable.

People must have lost their tickets Shaun or maybe one person has them all and is saving them up to hit you up. That’s probably more likely to be the case.

The Bower was great. Not so good today. I went back for another look and couldn’t find one PJ. They must come out later in the day so maybe an afternoon swim would be good one day also.

For those of you who were unlucky enough to miss out on your “kiss ticket”, I have one (in pristine condition), which I’m prepared to auction off to the highest bidder.
Bids can start….now! Proceeds will definitely go to some worthy Triad activity:-)

I tried to use my kiss ticket but was rejected by both as being too hot and sweaty. (Them not me!)Great blog again Renae. Didn’t anyone see the giant ray today?

That’s right Marije. There was an issue with the ticking app this morning.
I tried to tick via the app before 7am today but noticed that I was awarded 1.5k for yesterday, 7th October, not for today. Which meant I had to pick up the pen and tick Ian’s old-fashioned paper list at the surf club. My hand is still hurting.
I logged an IT ticket with Stephen. He said my call was important to him and that I had progressed in the queue.
PS: Obviously, as I didnt swim yesterday, I went back into the app and un-ticked myself for yesterday. And while we’re at it, I also paid for attending my own wedding. Squeaky-clean!

Fi, you’ll be right, don’t be shy about sprouting your darkness fears.
I’ve got an amulet for you that guarantees bad monsters will stay away from you in the dark water.
