We’re moving house so it’s a remote control blog today and blogger in crime, Snorkles, is creating havoc in Cairns – can’t believe you’re wearing a wettie up there Shaz!
Our numbers are amazing – I had a quick look back for “On this Day” 13 October,
- 2009, PB (Pre Blog), no records kept
- 2010, 33 swimmers
- 2011, 56 swimmers
- 2012, 96 swimmers
- TODAY 252 swimmers!!!!
What’s it going to be next year!
This is a big time for dolphins too- with lots of dolphin pics in the blog around this day in the last 3 years.
Our commuity is amazing and keeps on growing!
I need some pics from today’s swim to make my remote control App blog look real!
Please send me any “live” photos from the swim and I’ll add some in as they arrive – either to stephen@iswimtoo.com or to my phone 040.333.8888
My LaineyAPP just did it’s 9:52am update,
” Your predictions were correct, a lot did go from Halfway today as there were some big sets. It took ages to get to The Point as waves were big really far out. Fun though! Water was a bit cloudy so not much marine life sighted except trevalley, bream and groupers. Water felt warm and no stingers. No pink cap wedding photobombers today! Another great swim!”
LaineyfotoAPP has also just updated, here’s some shots straight from the App
Stunning sunrise…
Vintage beach shot..
Big swell, note floating body in foreground….ooops.
The AnniAPPolis is always on and full of features
The Pink wave returns….
And a new update from the SimonCowellAPP, a catfish ball…
And a very late shot from the Toni Jackson APP, apparently one of the bootie camp instructors?
I’ve just had an alert from my NickON App that some late swimmers added to the photo record of today’s bumpy swim! Nick Dawkins is the creator of the NickON APP that comes from the same stable as Nick’s evening app NickOFF.
The swell at the point…
Fish eye view…

With numbers growing so fast, the administration is getting bigger and bigger. Ian does more than most by doing our daily attendance. To make his job easier we’ve developed an attendance App – you can check in from any phone at www.iswimtoo.com/mobile . There are 2 B&B databases which aren’t identical – if you join and request a password and get an error message, ask Ian to add you to the attendance database. Ian’s email is, ugoboy@optusnet.com.au
The App is a web app and works on any phone –
You can get some more instructions here, https://www.dropbox.com/s/keaduo6c2fyn91i/iSwimtoo%20B%26B%20Attendance%20App.pdf
You can also go to iswimtoo.com and discover and share swims around the world including our very own Manly to Shelly, http://iswimtoo.com/viewopen-4e51faee49e2b7_91770958-Manly_to_Shelly_Return

Swim Safety
With the large numbers of swimmers we now have swimming with us, the risk of collision with other swimmers is increasing. We request that, where possible, you swim with the group, either at 6.30 am or 7 am. This will reduce the possibility of injury from a collision. One of our swimmers in the 7 am group recently suffered a substantial injury in a collision with another oncoming B & B swimmer. The injury required medical attention and a layoff from swimming of three weeks. Worst of all, the other swimmer did not stop to see if our swimmer was injured. If you must swim at other times, you should swim wide or close to the shore if possible to avoid other oncoming swimmers. Also be aware at all times of where the swimmers in the regular group are. Thank you for your co-operation.
Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.

Well done Stephen. I’ll send in some photos when I get home. Your predictions were correct, a lot did go from Halfway today as there were some big sets. It took ages to get to The Point as waves were big really far out. Fun though! Water was a bit cloudy so not much marine life sighted except trevalley, bream and groupers. Haha awesome!!
Stephen, be honest: did you put a little tick next to your name for today’s swim in that fancy new app?!!
Good luck with the move. Let Rainer know if you need any help moving furniture. I just saw him at the beach and he was saying that he specialises in carrying fridges and inconveniently-shaped lounge suites up stairs.
Go Melbourne runners!! Has Jules started a pilgrimage?!!

I’m dazzled by the technology demo in this blog, and feeling like a total Luddite. Can Luddites swim?

Great to see the attendance and past blog entries. It was a bit big and bumpy today, I took Ian’s advise and went halfway.
Thanks Ian for the attendance every day, it really is getting bigger than Ben Hur.
What is the deal with the Bolderdash swim anyone?
I’m off to download the B&B app – thanks everyone!

Kazza, I just found this on one of last year’s blogs. Julie Isbill wrote it. If you want to Bolderdash with a pro, see Little Sarah.
Bolderdash is a 3km swim from Manly to Queensie return, leaving Manly at 5.50am, giving enough time for everyone to make it back to the beach or at least the point in time to join the 7 o’clock swim from Manly to Shelly if they choose.
Guess what… Bolderdash kilometres count towards the Pacific Challenge too !!! And… due to the amount of interest Bolderdash will be official 7 days a week.
I won’t guarantee to be there at all Bolderdash swims, but I’m sure someone will, so feel free to join in. If the sheets are not down there when you enter the water they will be by the time you get out so PLEASE tick in both the blue and green folder if you do both !! Or just the appropriate one if you only do one. You will even be able to see whose done what swims on the daily attendance too as each name will have a separate icon depending on which swims they completed that morning !
