No wonder swimming with The Bold and Beautiful is so popular. Where else in the world could you find this many smiley faces all before 8am? 133 swimmers smiled and swam today on a glorious Thursday with sunshine, warm temps and clear water.
The morning kicked off a bit cooler than yesterday with another magnificent sunrise. I tried to get down to Manly early to capture it and see Little Sarah and the 5.50am Boldercrawlers off but couldn’t get out of bed in time so sunrise is taken at Newport Beach on my way to the swim!
I just missed the Drinks Express but you can just make them out heading at great speed to Shelly.
We love the dogs at the B&B. Here is ‘Baxter’, also a smiler. (No wonder when you see what his friend ‘Elvis’ is doing!)
Joey Joe Junior, in between Judy and Paige is a bit of a legend around Manly. Not only for his Ultra-Runs of 100 kms or more and fantastic running club but he also holds the world’s banana eating record!
It’s hard to believe that such an endurance athlete could be scared of much but he does have a ‘slight’ fear of sharks and thinks (rather immodestly I’d say), that they might be after him. Miles assures him, ‘The sharks are the least of your worries, it’s the cougars you have to worry about!’
Sarah and Drinky have just got in from the 6.30am swim and assure us as always, it’s beautiful out there. 30 swimmers did the early swim this morning. All welcome but it is a faster swim to avoid head butts with the 7amers.
Legsley likes to be different and doesNT smile for the camera!
We’ve assessed the surf situation and most go for the challenge of getting through the waves without getting ‘hammered’. Surf tips are at the bottom but my 3 top tips are; wait for a lull between sets (apologise to any Dutch people reading as lull means sthg different in Dutch 😉 use the rip to get you out faster and duck dive.
Sarah, Jenny, Ann and even Legsley * smile at The Point.
A catfish swims below me…
Always fun at Shelly. Put Nige down guys!
A lot of photos but everyone likes to see themselves on the blog and I try to include as many of you as possible!
And with a splash we’re off!
The water’s clear so I know I’m going to see a few fish as I’ve already spotted some squid, a wobbegong and flutefish so I take the scenic route back, close to the rocks. green gropers, wrasse and baby goatfish swim below us…
Another wobbie hiding under a rock…
And a Blogster trying to get some shots for tomorrow’s blog!
A beautiful green groper showing us his fins.
All fish photos from today exept this interesting sea creature I saw last Saturday, a smiling ray. What type Jane? Please identify!
And two girls looking to recruit for the Gridiron Lingerie Football League!
Smiles at brekkie 🙂

Great blog, Lainey!
Perfect conditions this morning and congratulations to Louise & Nadine who both did their first boulderdashes! Thanks for the company, Louise!
Storchy was meant to be joining me but had decided “the swell is up and too many big meetings!’ Ha, ha – we know that means a 5 mins play on his board and A two hour coffee break AND a tick for good measure:-))
Talking of ticks – Ian/John /Simon pls note Jon A forgot to tick for his boulderdash & shelly swims – during which he celebrated his 500 k!

Great blog again Elaine. What a fantastic title and perfect swim. You managed to stop along the way and take a photo of the beautiful sunrise. That’s commitment.
See you in the morning.

Another super blog Lainey – lets me catch up on what I missed out on this morning, after selflessly letting my husband swim today with his best chum, who was in town for one day only.
Looking forward to tomorrows swim though…..
Love the smiling ray!

Just looked it ‘lul’ in my Dutch dictionary. How on earth would a ‘lul’ help you through the swell?! 🙂
Great blog Elaine. Cant wait to rejoin the frolicking next week!
Jon, conrats on your 500k!
