29/10/2013 – Grateful to be so lucky

29/10/201313

Hello, bonjour!

Returning to the B&B after an absence of a few months makes me realise how lucky we are to be able to come together for this daily ritual.

The beauty of the sun shimmering through the early morning haze as the early lappers make their way through the surf.

The welcoming smiles of new and old friends.

Renae especially happy to have her Tuesday’s free again!

Plus for added excitement there are waves again!!

While most of the assembled 100 swimmers take to the surf with gusto, a smaller band head to half way for a less dramatic start to the swim.

The water is very murky as it is heavily infused with weed and leaf litter.  Combined with the lumpy waves, fish sightings were very limited today.  Also waves crashing against the rocks did deter me from being adventurous with fish hunting today!

All is quiet at Shelly as there is a noticeable absence of the major blog tarts!!

Great to see you all again!  Let’s do it again tomorrow 🙂

It promises to be a fantastic night with great food, wonderful company, along with the screening of a compilation of fabulous videos taken by one of our super talented swimmers, Mauricio Fuentes, of B&B swims both above and below the water.

Unfortunately the screening of the B&B Documentary, filmed by Naomi Fryer, will not be able to be shown at this function as post production will not be completed in time. It will however, be shown at a future B&B function.

To ensure you don’t miss out, secure your spot now by purchasing your ticket here now.

There will be a sensational live auction too, with stunning original art work up for grabs by our very own Jenny Knapman. Typically her works sell for around the $1200.00 mark!  Below is a photo of the beautiful painting that Jenny is donating!

Staying safe

Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly!  While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.  Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf.  To read, or even download, click here.

Bold and Beautiful Swim School

Sarah Anne Evans, B&B’s official Pacific Jules swim coach, has organised a group swim school at Shelley Beach for any willing B&B swimmers who want to improve their style. The cost is $30 and it’s limited to 15 people. During the 90 minute session Sarah Anne and Warren Evans will be covering how to swim with more efficiency, flow and speed! If the water is clear and calm enough they will film each person for feedback after the session via email.

The latest date available for the B&B Swim School is 21st December.

(This will be the last swim school for the year. More next year. Schools on 30 November and 14 December are both full)

If you would like to book in you should call or email Sarah Anne and you will be sent further information, including the date, time and payment details. Phone  0420 923 067  or email info@pacificjules.com.au

Lovely blog for your first blog after being in France, Mary. We are so very lucky to have discovered this swim and the people in it! Love that shot of some pink cappers being hit by the big wave. Another fantastic swim with excitement getting through the waves. Lost my goggles though if anyone happens to find them.

Great to have you back on the blog Mary, and back in the swim. I like the photo of ‘the foot’ leaving Shelly.
Happy birthday to Freddie, who turned one today.

Good to have you back Mary!
Thanks again for your kind offer to bring down your sterilized instruments and remove my sutures in front of the surf club. Went to see GP yesterday, so all done for now.
You are such a multi-talented woman! Is there anything you can’t do?
