There is absolutely no cause for despair after deciding to swim today. In fact, I would suggest that it was the best part of the day. A total of 58 swimmers turned up to take to the water this morning.
A few waves rolled in, but really they were not so scary. . .
Is this a new approach to marking off the B&B attendance?
I think the App would be much easier. . . See below for how you can beat the crowds around the attendance sheets and do it virtually.
Not sure about the tattoo. . . looks a little painful don’t you think?
The B&B brings a certain colour and movement to mornings in Manly. The varying and daring approaches to matching ones swim attire with pink – so many choices!!
Always a delight to see Fifi
The heart starter waves may have intimidated with their size, but were really just a lot of fun.
Visibility was at a low today, so this is what we didn’t see. . .
The show at Shelly was of the ironmen of the squad – John and Ted – working on those toned shoulders and abs.
It was a speedy swim to Shelly and turnaround. As you can see by Ian’s watch it is just 7.20am by the time we head back. . .
The morning fog was clinging to the headland around Queenscliff as the sun struggled to break through the clouds.
The decision to go back through the waves proved to be a good choice providing a bit of a frolic at the end.
When the weather closed in about 8.30am, those of us communing about the table at Bluewater knew we made a good decision to swim ‘cause we had enjoyed the best part of the day.
See you tonight
Mary
Don’t forget the dinner tonight!!
A couple of tickets have become available for this sold out event. If you want to come along send Ian an email ASAP(ugoboy@optusnet.com.au).
AUCTION – Phone Bids will be accepted!
Included in the auction is a stunning original art work by our very own Jenny Knapman. Typically her works sell for around the $1200.00 mark! If you can’t make it to the dinner, but would like to bid, we will be accepting telephone bids on the night. Let Ian (0412 331530) know if you would like to bid and we will ring you when the auction is about to start.
Below is a photo of the beautiful (and bold) painting that Jenny is donating!

B & B Attendance Login App
The new B&B Attendance Login App is live!! Using the App you can log your swim (only if you did swim), between 5am and 9am on the day of the swim. No need to tick the attendance sheet as the App does that for you. As swimming with the B&B has become the coolest thing to do, using the App will reduce the queue for the sheets so you will never be late for the 7am call.
To get started, please send an email to Ian Forster (ugoboy@optusnet.com.au) requesting to have your account activated. You will receive detailed instructions how to operate the system. No badge, but bragging rights for being an early adopter. Happy ticking.

Have Fun more with the Pacific Challenge
Our website guru, Magnus Butlin has developed a fun new page which shows a different take on the Pacific Challenge. The new page shows each swimmer’s progress over the last week (or fortnight/month/two months) in terms of their position on the leader board.
The bumps chart can be accessed from the Pacific Challenge page via a button in the top right hand corner. Take a look and see how many people you have passed in the Pacific Challenge in the last few weeks:
http://www.faulconbridgesoftware.com/bb/pub/bumps.htm
The ‘divisions’ listed are the columns currently shown on the Pacific Challenge page. At this stage, only the first five columns (300 swimmers) are shown.

LOST AND FOUND
I found a pair of Pink B&B budgies in the men’s change room this morning. If they are yours, you can claim them tomorrow from John Kelly.
Also a wetsuit and black one piece bathers were found in the ladies outside change room and were handed in to the clubhouse by the finder.

Lovely blog, as usual, Mary. It was a great swim this morning through that gently rolling swell – fabulous!! (That’s me doing semaphore out through the breakers 🙂
Also highly commended: the new “bumps chart” on the Pacific Challenge board. Dazzling!

T’was a drab and dreary day today indeed. It was like swimming through pea soup!
You have definitely caught the best of the swim today Mary. Good work!
