25/4/14 – Anzac Day – with Manly SLSC

25/04/201412

Anzac Day 2014 – A little grey and wet, but that’s how we like it!

A massive thank you to Manly SLSC who invited us to comemorate the day with them in the club. We hope we can do the same next year, we really appreciated it!

B&Bers showed up this morning to swim and pay tribute to all those Australians who served in theatres of War throughout our history.

The swim was a little choppy today, and it was also  the final leg of the Triple Crown – The Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Anzac Day sprint between the A-list

Booty camp did some tunnel work – (cue Great Escape music…..)

Indigo was well prepared

Sterling slept in his wetsuit he was so excited…

Soph and Sterling like to wear the same things…

Everyone is wary of the triple threat – Rainer – who can sing, dance and act…

As you can see – a good turnout…

Coming in to the final turn – Puss in Boots by a length from the Bishop…. who went for a run over the rocks…

..and it’s the Bishop by a nose! ..

2014 beach landing…

Col. John Platt (aka Hannibal Lecter) at the lecturn…

-reminding Bella Boo Boo that there are 2 verses to Advance Australia Fair!

Sorry Boo Boo, all my pics of you were blurry .. but you sang like an angel!

Jenny Knapman lays the wreath ..

Greggie plays the Last Post

The Manly SLSC paddle out for a wreth laying at sea…

Watched by the generations from land… Jilly and Tully

… and the serious business of Jill’s biscuits!

Have a great Anzac Day everyone! Nick D

The Trivia Night is pretty much sold out!!

There might be a random ticket or two if you are lucky.  So, if you want tickets – and haven’t booked, or have booked (and paid) but now can not attend, please send Ian an email at ugogoyo@gmail.com (copy and paste the address ‘cause this is not a link).

This year we will be joined by the Royal Far West who will be assisting in fundraising for the event, and will receive part of the funds raised on the night.

B&B i-Log

Really if you haven’t been using the B&B i-Log then you must be new!!  Almost 75% of swimmers are now using the B&B i-Log. Log your swim ANYTIME of day using this really efficient and easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge. To get started, send an email to Ian Forsterugoboyo@gmail.com (This is not a link so please copy and paste into your email). He will check that your email address is activated on the attendance register then send you info on how to get started.

Staying safe

We have had seen the return of some serious waves and rips this past week!  Were you prepared? Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly!  While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.  Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf.  To read, or even download, click here.

Thank you to Jules for starting B&B, to Ian and all the Johns for keeping it going and to the wonderful bloggers. Today marks 12 months since I started swimming with B&B and I can’t now imagine not swimming at Manly every weekend. It’s fab. Cheerio.
