Have you noticed how hard it is to stay afloat in the white water of a broken wave?
Unlike the glassy laminar face upon which a surfer finds nirvana, the turbulent water is an endless struggle. Physicists call turbulence an absence of integrity. Increased energy input for diminishing advancement. Telling us it’s the viscosity of a substance (the strength of the bonds) that staves off this fall into a low-energy turbulent state.
Sociologists say we are in an uncertain era of “liquid modernity”; marked by the information revolution, increasing privatisation of services by capitalist economies, manufactured ambivalence and a reduction in traditional networks of support.
Like the droplets in the ocean, it is the strength of our bonds that will avoid turbulence on our shared journey through this uncertain era. Integrity being the essence of society.
Every morning, 7am at the south end of Manly you will find a traditional network of support, strengthening bonds and providing certainty as we swim together in our liquid modernity.

Bill brings balance to the BnB.

“Only Connect!..” – E. M. Forster. Small waves and an easy trip to the point this morning.

Running Rachel recently returned from taking honours at a 100km race in the mountains.
(presented by the lovely assistant Derek).

Chris Taylor’s elbow ecaping the liquid insanity. Idyllic conditions across the bay.

A couple of pelicans joined the double lappers at Shelley

Cold air temp made for a cool Shelley wait. A lone swimmer attempts to catch the sun and warm the group…

…GOT IT! And there was a lot of sun to share around this morning…

The double Lappers shine on. Building even stronger bonds…

Such as this… Exhibit J!
Warmly,
Andrew ‘Magichands’ Maher.

Andrew, please remember, the whole point of inappropriate blog photos is to make a big fuss of them..

Forget the pic of Lesley undressing as bombed by Bill, what about the pic of the pelicans at Shelly? I’ve never seen pelicans swimming at Shelly – well-captured, Magic Hands!
And congratulations for bombing the entire blog yesterday, Lesley!!
Meant to complement Wendy on her recent blog-tarting skills too!
