For those of you who have been a bit slack lately… thought I’d remind you of a few good reasons to do our very special adventure of a swim!
Even when the water and air temp (with wind chill), feels freezing and the water murky… it’s still the best thing to do to start off your day!
The sun came out today and the sea was a bit calmer…
Ripples of swimmers heading across the bay

Around 60 of you at Shelly

The lovely lady in the middle is getting married today! What a way to start one of the most memorable days of your life!

Elizabeth is back from Hawaii where she did the Waikiki swim. Well done Elizabeth!

Today was really Roger’s blog day but he asked me to swap. He gave us that very entertaining and unique blog on Wednesday. As I have to rush off to work soon, there are only a few photos of today’s swim. Thought I’d preload a few of my favourite photos (taken by me Lainey Loo, NOT Nick STD 😉 this year, and got a bit carried away! I’ve sent some of these to Manly Mac Art to be considered for use in the 2015 calendar. Let me know if you think they would be good and also what sort of photos you’d like to see in the Bold and Beautiful 2015 calendar on blog comments. It is always nice to find yourself so there are a few group shots. I’ve put them in order of our daily drama.
The very early lappers with the lovely Sylvia, Reg and Bruce (who don’t get on the blog often) under an incredibly colourful sky…
Storchy’s Booty Campers!
Drinks Expressers!
John Bond checks the water temp under a sky to match our caps
Early swimmers practise yoga

Rusty reaching for sunrise…
Cross over of Sarah from The Drinks Express with lots of 7amers.
Who can you recognise? Ducky (Helen) stands out with that yellow rashy. She’s back soon from the US.
Who can you spot in this shot? The incredible lady who put so much work in to getting this group going and organised, is here. Thank you Julie Isbill. We adore you!
Olympic swimmer Shane Gould joins us for a swim. Bruce and Sterling are star struck!
Winter entrance and the numbers have dwindled…

Sarah and Renae enjoy the whitewash!
Swim to The Point
After the ‘Let’s Go’ under a dramatic sky!

Shelly from behind

At Shelly we warm up with pushups or blog tarting!

My blog wouldn’t be the same without a blog tart photo (and Little Sarah come back soon, we miss you!)

This photo is a bit dark but it was Sparkles birthday and she was having a ‘Grateful Moment’ (with some special swimmers behind.)

Who says we leave out the Eastern side of Shelly?

No shark cull rally
Another national day of action against the culling of sharks is being held on Sunday 7 September. . Manly beach is one of 5 locations around the country. This event will coincide with national threatened species day and also is the first weekend the nets are back in the water.
Also as mentioned previously if we can drum up enough members of B&B who would like to put the pink caps on and swim out to one of the shark nets as a demonstration on the day of the rally that would be awesome. We would kick that off first around 11am. Obviously it will depend on if we have enough keen people to brave the cold water and the conditions on the day in terms of safety.
If you are interested or have question, contact Sharnie Connell direct (sharnieconnell@gmail.com)
Special Event – Guest Speaker, Miles Tollan. 9th September at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant

The venue is the Royal Far West Children’s Home (opposite the beach) on Sunday 21st September, straight after the regular swim!

All 2014 winter badge qualifiers will be presented with their well earned badge(s), so whether you are getting one personally or you want to enjoy the celebrations of your fellow swimmers, a great morning is guaranteed so come along, soak up the atmosphere and get inspired for your upcoming summer badge challenges…
Staying safe
The surf is picking up! Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

Lots of beautiful pictures!! Wish the year had more than 12 months to fit all of them in the 2015 calendar! 🙂 Thanks for sharing them Elaine. It was a pleasure to look at them. They made me feel (once again) very fortunate to be able to enjoy our magical morning swims with the wonderful B&B group!

Great blog Elaine! We are very lucky to have you as part of the group Lainey Loo.
Are you sure Nick didn’t take some of those photos?
That one of Silky has Nick written all over it. 🙂
“Real” Dolphin Whisperer phsss! Please.
A small fact , (I learnt while chatting to the Moana Creek Pod, they are so funny sometimes)
Sorry, back to the topic – did you know that patting and stroking the tounge is foreplay in the dolphin world.
Speaking French while doing so only heightens the experience for them.
Careful Mauricio. 🙂

I knew there was something very intimate about that encounter. Thanks DWWS for the cue. Will start french lessons asap 🙂 Elaine, thanks for the compliment but I humbly decline the title of “real” whisperer and happily hand it over to DWSS who is our one and only B&B certified whisperer. Great blog btw, great photos, will definitely join you again once the southerlies give us a break.

Interesting facts Shaun. Meant to ask you, is there a monthly meeting for Northern Beaches based dolphin pick-up artists?

Mauricio?
Lippy, you could try Internet dating sites if you were that way inclined.
Try searching for 300kg, outdoor type, Seafood a must, not a hand holder.
See what happens.
