23/09/2014 – Winter Warriors

23/09/20147

‘Mary, Mary, where you goin’ to?’  She’s in the City, but I have extra pix from Badge Sunday to cover for today.

Newbie Rachel is from Turramurra: “I read about the group in the media a few years ago.  I’m doing a few triathlons, so have come along today.  I’ve been reading the blog all winter though …”

Bottle Blog: They are on the beach today, but none in the water.  This particular genus is Toreador Terratus – they charge swimmers, and go for the nostrils

—-

Peter and Justice:  Justice grew up on the East Cape, RSA, and eventually became a sports psychologist.  He moved to Sydney four years ago.

QUIZ: Can you recognise this arm?  It contains a torn rotation cup, but is still up for a swim.  Nice goosebumps!!

Aw, come off it, Ian.  Three blogs in five days …?  You must be kidding

Juno in Septembro …

Hi, Ash.  She was in Carlile Swimming Club years ago, and is trying to regain swimming-strength.  Her best time for 50 metres freestyle was 29 seconds, in 2005.  They would swim six kilometres per training session, eight times a week.  Plus a couple of gym sessions.  Up in mornings at 4.30 a.m. for training from 5 to 7 a.m.  (Count me out.)

WINTER BADGE CEREMONY last Sunday

It was a big morning last Sunday, and the cafe was busy.  It’s owned by Kane and Annie, and has a name (but no signage allowed): Manly Point Cafe.

Off to the ceremony …

The crowd swelled – and the Show began

A’ is for Alistair … next.

Confession: I only spotted him, as I’d snuck off early too

——

Thanya’s already sewn these five badges on – Ian (two), Howard (two) and Peter (one).

—-

Even the budgie-smugglin’ Prime Minister was there!

—-

Jules closed the morning out – Good on Everyone!

Could this be a Caption Competition

I think the thermometer’s broken – it felt a lot colder than 18.2! Fun blog.
