It was a strange old morning down at Manly Beach this morning…I really thought that cloud might lift and shine on us swimmers but it didn’t. It felt colder than 18.3 in too, but the water was smooth and calm, no stingers and there were over 80 of us taking the plunge!
With about 20 joining in for the early swim. Thanks Drinky for noticing the official photographer this morning and giving me a wave!
Booty Camp concentrated on core work today although did end with a bit of yoga as Sharkie Sharnie noticed as she walked past. Booty Camp Mons, Weds, Fris 6am. Yoga Tues, Thurs and Sats!
Get that leg higher Storchy!
This beautiful lady shows how it should be done. Where is your other leg Anna?
‘Are you the Tri Club from yesterday?’ I ask this group. (You can guess my second question) ‘and are you single?’ I am supposed to be the matchmaker of the group and I’m not having much success!
The cheeky guy in the middle is single btw ladies. Direct all interest to me cos I’m on commission 😉
The lovely Ann Lemon on the right has a secret admirer…
In to that water we go. Perfect conditions just colder than it looks!
The ‘Let’s Go’ went really quickly today leaving me at the back so I had to do my scramble out at the shed and run along the white line to catch you all at Shelly.
Had a lovely look at the fishies on the way of course. Still a bit cloudy, lots of plankton about but that might encourage more marine life!
Look at that gorgeous, green vegetation at the back of beach. I LOVE Shelly Beach!!!
Watch how this motley crew instantly change into brazen blog tarts the second they hear the words, ‘I’m blogging! Who wants to be on the blog?’
Jalna and Sue are the more subtle, shy type of ‘Blog Tart’.
There was a lovely wobbegong on the bottom swimming back and some people spotted a Fiddler Ray. I spotted this catfish or ‘Estuarine Cobblefish’ who looked a bit scary with his big, blue eyes!
Jalna ditches Sue for Jane on the way back. Our lovely Jane swam again with one arm today as her rib is broken after a drunk driver drove into her. If anyone is selling a 4 door hatchback please let us know. Her car was a write off. Also her son-in-law, Al del Bene is performing at comedy night at Blackets at The Steyne tonight. A fantastic show and still some tickets left.click here
Teletubbie Tim is going to ‘milk’ this minor scratch he incurred trying to take a shortcut to beat Scottie across the rocks today!
John, Simon and Mauricio. Sorry John and Simon I really took this photo to show off Mauricio who free dives and takes the amazing videos of the marine life of Cabbage Tree Bay as a lot of swimmers don’t know who he is. I’ll put in the link click here
BOULDERDASH – Starts on 27th October
The Boulderdash will start officially on Monday 27th October and will run every day until the end of Summer. The start time is just before 6 am at Manly Surf Club, and the route goes from Manly to Queenscliff and back (3 km total). You should be back at the Club just in time for the 7 am Shelly swim. If you are intending to do the Boulderdash, can you please swim with the group at the correct starting time (random swims during the day do not count). The main aim of the Bold and Beautiful is to provide a fun group activity, so we request that the “regulars” please welcome any new swimmers who wish to try the Boulderdash for the first time. They will feel much more at ease if they are swimming as part of a group.

Hi Elaine, lovely illustrated blog as always. Honored to share the “protagonism” with Simon and John. Actually the latest video was an express request from Simon which I pleasantly attended. The more people learn about CTBR the better. Thank you Simon for including the video in your presentation and thank you Elaine for sharing.
Very fast swimmer

Fab photo of the Diamondfish, Lainey-Loo. I have never seen such a big school – there must have been at least 200. If anyone is not sure what they are, here is Gaétan’s lovely pic which has been added to the Australian Museum website, as have some of Lainey’s pics, among other B&B photographers.
