Boo! Friday is Halloween

31/10/201414

Ghostly at 5.35 a.m.

ROUGHSHOD ON THE STEPS: Caught this guy sleeping on the beach

LITTLE SARAH PRACTISING her racing dives …

BOULDERDASHERS REPORTING AT 5.40 A.M: Including Midge, Brendan, Jo, Robert, Rainer, little Sarah and Bernard …

HALLOWEEN STARTS EARLY

THREE LOVELIES!

Ian, from Manly, says: “Never regret a swim!”

INJURED MUTTON BIRD

SHE’S GOT GOOD HEARING: Rabbitohs supporter a few weeks ago, post-swim.  Licking her paws

FOOT IN THE DOOR: Greg’s laughing about Richard’s ankle

TATTOO YOU: They look so sexy when they’re wet!   Thanks Adrian …

WHO’S ZOOMING WHO: From Mary Mary comes this Blog Analytic, showing global locations of all the sickos stalking us …

ELLIOTT’S ALL KITTED UP: “All the gear; no idea!”, he says.

FISHING IN SANCTUARIES: Appeals are closed now, for the removal of fishing permits from marine sanctuaries along NSW coast.  I sent a large cartoon to Mr Baird’s office. (Fortunately, Cabbage Tree Bay has remained a ‘No Take’ Sanctuary)

BELIEVE IT OR NOT: Two grown men last week brought thier windcheaters to a cafe bench … for pre-planned sewing session by the kind and caring Sally H

BITE ME: This is Sally’s friend Jasper

BITE ME: This is Richard’s bloody ankle

SHOCK HORROR: This is Ian McKnackers’ blogging tackle.  I refuse to tell you where he stows cam during swim … (Urgh).

THREE RACES OVER FIVE DAYS: First day of the Spring Triple Crown. It runs over this morning for Halloween, then Sunday … and concludes on Tuesday with the Melbourne Cup. Scrappy Scotty is the defending champion.  For back-of-packers like me, here’s a little general background on the competitive swimmers – who regularly race from the front.

COMPETITORS:  There are about 14 serious swimmers, locked in battle every week, amongst the 7 am cluster.

RACE STARTS: They always race on return leg from Shelly to shore.  They take off with the “Let’s Go!” shout

FINISH LINE: It’s in the water at beach line, and the winner is the first person to stand up.

TUESDAY BLUES: Next B&B Monthly Dinner is 6.30 pm, Tuesday 11th November at Bluewater Cafe (and will be our last for the year).  The info lecture will feature knowledgeable swimmers Dr Rainer Noack and Professor Nick Dawkins, who will add to their previous dissertation on swimming etiquette.

Titled:

“How to get ahead in the B&B”

Jimble Bells Jimble Swells,

Whistle if you can;

Oh what fun it is to swim,

Over jellyfish in the bay

Our Christmas party is nearly here.  Hold the date!

Great blog, Driftwood Roger! You’re hired!! I need to work on those race dives!
Great morning for a bolder-shelly and congratulations, Jo, on your first bolderdash, first bolder-shelly and first experience of swimming on a leisurely sight-seeing tour:-))

Quote from Mike Baird to me at Bruce’s last birthday party on the risk of any change in CTB ‘no take’ status: MB: “Over my dead body!”
Just keep him well & healthy and we’ll be right!

Thanks for holding my hand this morning Lips and LSA! You were right – swimming in the water before brekkie, walking on air after.

Great Blog Roger. Your a Natural. Thank you for giving up your time so we could flippantly entertain ourselves reading and commenting after your hard work.
LSA will have you in her blogging sites now! Go get him Sarah!
I missed the Bolder start this morning. I left a few minutes after you with Bernard and chased.
I found “That crazy Shark Lady” 🙂 with “The Toucher” out at the shark nets.
Lips and LSA, were you running the hypotenuse to Shelley ?
I didn’t see you coming back.
Well done Jo on your first bolder dash. What a great morning for it.

Hi Shauny, you’re obviously out of form and too slow for my cracking pace:-)
We didn’t go out to the shark nets….back towards the point….not quite as direct a hypotenuse as I like, but we try not to scare newcomers by inspecting the nets, passage to NZ and bower surf and rocks…
Let’s set up a couple of hypotenuse runs for next week! Yeh, Shark lady, Toucher and Bernhard are becoming dodgy experts. Hope you didn’t scrape yourself on the rocks!
