You know it’s going to be a good day when you start your day with a B&B swim. ..Whatever is going on in your life, you know if you get out of bed early, get your body down to Manly, see the smiles of these friendly people and throw yourself in that ocean, you have the best chance of having a great day! I’ve been addicted for almost 5 years and am very grateful to be able to do it 5 or 6 times a week!
Today I didn’t run before the swim with Manly Beach Running Club. I got up a little later and absorbed the sights and sounds of our favourite corner of the world pre-swim. The Booty Campers were busy at it, as were the ‘Olds and Bolds’, the early swimmers were coming back and Drinks Expressers getting ready.
Conditions were pretty much perfect as the 6.30 am’ers went in. Quite calm with a little wave to bring out a few shrieks and laughs. Water temp was 19.4, refreshing after the warm night and no reports of stingers!
Lovely Pauline, in the foreground sets off for her early swim and gives a wave!
Seeing these two grumpy faces always makes me smile somehow!
7am and down the ramp we go… 140 of us have recorded our swim so far and one newbie!
Before Cathie goes off on her job of fixing people’s hearts, (she’s a Cardiologist not a therapist;-) she joins us for a swim sporting her new cozzie. She wore it sun baking recently without suncream and ended up looking like a leopard!
Love catching swimmers in the white wash! Nice to see Mary swimming with us during the week again.
Waiting at The Point the sun does it’s very best to squeeze out through the clouds…
Cabbage Tree Bay is SO photogenic even pointing straight in to the sun. I tried a filter with this one.
…and of course you swimmers are always SO photogenic because you are always bursting with life and energy during and after our swims!
These lovely ladies (Rainer included 😉 always brighten my day even more!
…as do Ian and JK who make the B&B work the amazing way it does.
Scrappy Scotty trying to get in the lead for the ‘Let’s Go’!
Ian, Lisa, Monica, Tracey and Sparkles stick around for a photo.
and ‘The Doublers’ try their hand at blog tarting, Hilary, Rob, Mike, Shelly, Alan and Greg
Here is Michaela who many of us have met as she chats to people post swim around the hole in the wall. She is a therapist/spiritual and Reiki healer and is available now for readings and healings.
The water was quite murky today and I missed the Shovel Nosed Shark (small and harmless), a few people saw close to Shelly, but I did catch this beautiful Groper on the way back!
Then it’s off to the rocks to catch some more marine life.
Michaela again.
I couldn’t see so much round the rocks today, only this Sergeant Baker.
Below are a few underwater shots from last week when the water was much clearer.
Diamondfish
Goatfish and Maori wrasse
Dead bird!
Sea Pike
Wobbegong (yesterday)
A glimpse of a Dusky Whaler also yesterday.
More Diamondfish
…and happy swimmers! Lucy brought her brother and sister down yesterday for Pete’s birthday!
It was Jane’s birthday and her daughter Harriet swam with her.
Cathie and her cozzie again. We want to see the tan underneath now Cathie!
Pauline reaches her 500km last Thursday!
I caught Karen doing some wheeling and dealing with John on Sunday 😉
Have a wonderful day folks! Looking forward to seeing you all at the Christmas party!

At the Christmas Party, we will have a fantastic lucky door prize – a Swiss made Australian OceanMoon watch valued at $490 – donated by Bausele Australia. RED FEB is coming in February 2016
In anticipation of our participation in the RED FEB Relay next year, Heart Research Australia will provide some invaluable monthly information on general heart health. Here is November’s offering:
Did you know that three times more men die from heart disease than prostate cancer?
Heart disease is one of the leading health risks facing men today. Every day, 98 Australian men have a heart attack; 1 in 7 of these men will die. According to a recent Australian Health Survey, three times more men die from heart disease than prostate cancer – yet most men don’t know they have heart disease until they have a heart attack.
90 per cent of Australians have one modifiable risk factor for heart disease.
The good news is that there are measures you can take to protect yourself from this largely preventable disease. The risk factors you can control include smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, insufficient physical activity, obesity, diabetes, poor nutrition, and excessive intake of alcohol. Other risk factors that are beyond our control include age, gender, family history and ethnicity.
You are never too young or too old to start taking care of your heart!

Fabulous pics Lainey, and a great blog as usual.
The doublers are actually demonstrating what Alan’s wife has informed us is “the midwives’ salute”, the width of the V shape demonstrating the extent of dilatation … I will say no more, Michael already in enough shock.

Lips, if you’d read my blog (instead of just skimming quickly through the photos ;-)) you’d have read that most of the fish except the Groper and Sergeant Baker were taken last week! And to think I read every single word of your blogs!!!

Great blog Lainey! I read EVERY word.
Lips, breathing on one side wears the goggles out unevenly. You get far more use if you breathe
both sides.
Great costume Cathy, you look great in it.
I had one myself a few years back.
Made me look like a hairy golf ball.
