This morning, all the super heroes, super for a range of reasons, dropped their capes and enjoyed their natural activity, ocean swimming. Here are Lilleen (All the way from South Africa – Margot, that is even further than the Blue Mountains!) Deanna and Julia. Lilleen has travelled so far to swim with her son – he is doing an early swim and kindly posed for a photo below at Shelly. Deanna is our own fantastic swimmer super hero and here is Julia. Not only doing her third swim and thinking, on approach, what will the water be like, bu also VOLUNTARILY teaches teenage girls!!! I tip my hat to you. She is addicted to ocean swimming now I am sure.
Super Steve
Super Sophie
Jerome showing a super stretch
Super Michael
Super Melissa, Jenn (I am glad it is school hols so she can be here on a Friday!!), Julia, Beck and Margaret
Super Marije showing that Super John Bond arranged for water temp today of 22.2
Some of the better known A team that are super speedy
Justus and Charl.
Super Mark – swimming since 6 and now ready to move among mere mortals
Errol and super swim pal
Super Adam got in to the wet suit without help
Super Inge filling in newbies Paul and Ella about the swim. welcome.
Luke is waiting for dad to join him in a further swim at 7. Super mum spectating
Super heroes at rest
I was trying to get to the beach by 6.30am to catch these super swimmers getting into the water but they started at 6am!! No chance of that so they kindly posed for a photo at the end of their swim. Super heroes of speed, stamina and excellent technique
Super heroes getting in even though there was a lot of sea weed. A LOT. What is in it? How can we know it does not have eels in it? How?
More super early swimmers training for this and that. Port Macquarie triathlon is one thing – 2km ocean swim, 90 km bike (the distance between Sydney and Wollongong just by the way) and 21 km run. That is probably the warm up
Luke and dad setting off
Super colours and super swimmers with great smiles
Diving in under the wave and I got a face full of weeds!
Who is this swimmer? did he plan to swim?
A super swimmer above the surface
Mermaid below:
Easter suburbs of Shelly beach where the super heroes relax like John and Ross
Father and son super heroes
Jenn and Ali
Ross and Bryan. Bryan has kept his super gloves for the swim
Alison and some flipper wearing swimmers
You think it is easy for super blog tarts. It is not. It is hard to get the pose just right especially when the photographer has timing a bit out. Here is Ian shortly before he was worn out from repeated jumps in the air. Who needs boot camp?
Lilleen and her son Dave ready to swim back
Here is a super thoughtful swimmer who was trying to return his cap. Not because he does not want to come back but because he has another one.
I noted again on my return to the beach that there was a lot less rubbish about after the BB swimmers had been through. We enjoy the swim and the water and each do a bit to keep it clean.
I love swimming despite being quite bad at it and more slow than seems physically possible. Also I am scared of waves. And stingers and sea weed. I know swimming is an individual activity but I think I get a huge benefit swimming amongst (ok, behind) all of these great super hero swimmers. Here are my two super girls Ruby and Miranda at beautiful Govett’s Leap. If ever I think I know anything, I spend time with them.
This week I have been reading a book by Luria on a man with extraordinary memory, the Mnemonist and the second Marani book The Interpreter. Both short. Now I am getting through Karin Slaughter’s latest crime fiction for some junk reading. I am looking forward to seeing the Sherpa movie if I can find a session.
Poppies. Rosemary.
ANZAC Day is Monday 25 April 2016. BB will mark the solemn occasion at 7 am before the swim.

Super blog Liz! Would she pose for a photo? No. But we like to be get to know our bloggers more! Some are elusive. I especially like the bit about what you are reading and the movie you would like to see. Adds that something extra.

Anyway Liz nobody is bad at swimming. Just like no one is bad at walking and I don’t think you could say you are bad at it and yet have swum a massive 1,326.80km. Did you log today? The way you swim fearlessly around headlands more or less solo is so admirable!

I know how long it takes to upload photos for the blog so it is so nice of you to spend the time to do this and include so many swimmers. A great blog once again Elizabeth. Ted and I are missing the swims so much.
You are a true ‘Super Hero’ Elizabeth swimming such distances and trying to overcome fears as you go.

Inge. I see it as a good thing. I have so much room for improvement. Much worse if I was a great swimmer and still slow. And I love working on it even though progress is slow
