A smouldering start to the day with half a meter of southerly swell on a 10 second period and nary a whisper of wind from anywhere of any importance.

After a week of Jimbal infestations, the numbers were quite small this morning. The glowing 18 degrees in the water was helpful for everybody.

The mid tide helped the amble to the point for those with a need to acclimatise over a longer period.

The resident Blackfish were milling around the green carpets and refused to move as we swam over.

With no wind the point had an inkiness to it and gave a one way mirror effect. Completely different below the surface.

We hugged the coast to avoid the throng of Jimbals setting up an ambush around the Tardis.
With such balmy conditions, even Shelley wasnt cold.

It was a case of stick to your lanes on the way in as we all took the scenic route.

Lots of fish in close over the white boulders.

The occasional flurry of bubbles as someone turned on some pace to overtake.

There was a lot of close to the rocks action with some not looking up in time.
The Grouper’s were not happy that we were all in so close, skating from crevice to crevice to get out of the controlled stampede.

It was useful though to know that if you ever do get caught in here on a big wave day there are lots of deep holes around the bigger rocks that you can dive into for safety.

And some neat paths to follow on the homeward trek.

Heaps of Whiting in close on the way in.

Lots of people checking them out on the way home.

Great swim and not a Jimbal to be seen (in close).
Walk for Pancreatic Cancer – Sydney 2016
Our own Caroline Kelly is excited to announce the 8th annual Sydney walk on Sunday 7th August which saw a large contingent of the Bold & Beautiful take part. Due to recent storm damage to the pathway between Shelly Beach and Manly, the start/end point has been changed this year. It will now commence about 200 metres north of the North Steyne SLSC. Come out and support this very good cause by registering and walking or doing some extra fundraising. To register Click here. Or you can Continue Reading more.

Brian – your photos are magnificent. Such saturated colour. I also got jimbled but when I stopped I was lucky to see Edwina and she showed me lots of lovely fish around the rocks. Splendid swimmer photos too
