Friday 3 March 2017 Summer is over – Autumn is the best season for swimming

03/03/20177

Autumn is the best time of year to swim. As one early swimmer reported, no jimbles, warm water, good conditions! Get yourself down to the beach and swim.

Alan and Bernhard

Dave and Allison – People of the Wall

Rob, Alan and Martin know it is the best

One newbie today brought by a wise friend.

Encounters with early swimmers who reported a lovely swim today. Dave and Belinda

Philip gave a very glowing report of the swim.

look at all the feet racing for the water

What a beautiful site and sight

Off we go. there were troughs in the sand today which made people look legless at different points.

At the point I met Lee from the Inner West who like me gets up at 6 am to swim. Could not be a better start to the day

At Shelly Beach

Caroline is not wearing a wetsuit because it is SO warm.

Back to the beach

Swimmers are very talented people. Here is a fabulous sketch David produced at his first class. Obviously talented at swimming AND art.

What I am reading: Margaret Drabble’s latest book on ageing and dying. It is very good. The Dark Flood Rises.

Also I was reading the blogs of Outdoor Swimmer and saw our very own Rainer – I think – post the following on how to deal with slow swimmers (http://outdoorswimmer.com/blogs/the-david-wilkie-problem) :

I integrate slower and hobby swimmers into my Training now. If they slow me down or stop me I choose between overtaking, changing the stroke, including a drill or stopping-and-sprinting.
As an open water swimmer I even like the fact that I have to sight once or twice each length, and that each ‘disruptive influence’ teaches me to stay calm and focussed, as I havt to do in a race.
I was not always like this, but it helps 🙂

Thanks Elizabeth. Love your blogs. Very pleased to see i still managed to get a photo in at Shelly.
That comment on the Outdoor Swimmer blog is an imposter. Sounds like someone much faster than me. I bet his name isn’t even Rainer!
