Saturday 8 April 2017- Hello Weekend and Hello School Holidays

April 8, 20174

Hello Weekend! Well played Saturday! The water was so luscious on the skin this morning. I love it when it comes to Autumn and the water temp is warmer than the air temperature. The cloud love was so onpoint this morning and so were the Bold and Beautiful Squad members. Happy school holidays to everyone. I love the school holidays because I do not have to rush around and make numerous lunches etc etc before I get out the door to work. I especially love the school holidays because I can chill and come down here for an amazing swim each morning. Yay!!!

Humans of the Bold and Beautiful Swim Squad

I always ask a few of our squad members a couple of questions each time I blog:

1) Why did you start swimming with The Bold and Beautiful Swim Squad?

2) How does it make you feel?

Introducing (Left to right): Vernon, Wesly and Chris

Vernon: “I started swimming here about 4 years ago when  I was training for the Cole Classic my first ocean swim. I feel good to get up early and see the sunrise and be active.”

Wesley: “I started doing it to train for a triathlon. I’ve been swimming here for about 3 years now. It’s a great way to start the weekend and a great way to start the morning. The beautiful scenery. It’s so great to watch the sunrise as I was swimming to Shelly Beach. It makes it the best start to the weekend as possible.”

Chris: ” My sister has been swimming down here for a while and she has been trying to get me down here for a while. She is one of the foundation members. I just live up the road and I work with Wes who told me to come on down. I’ve done about half a dozen swims with the Bold. I probably would be sleeping off a hangover if I wasn’t down here, so it makes me feel good.”

Introducing Bundy and Kelly both training for the Iron Man in Port Macquarie in May.

Bundy: “I started so we could  get out of our comfort zone from swimming in the Nepean River because we are from Penrith. It makes me feel fantastic, when the weather is nice, the ocean is nice and the people are nice, why wouldn’t you? Where would you rather be? ”

Kelly: ” I’ve just started triathlons so I’ve got to get used to swimming in the ocean. It was beautiful watching the sunrise this morning.”

Introducing Scott

” I live locally and lots of my friends were doing it. Why wouldn’t you want to start your day in the ocean? I did it about two years ago a couple of times. But now I have been swimming a couple of times a week for the last 5 months. It makes me feel awesome!”

I love bumping into Naomi when I come down for a swim. Today she told me that peeps keep on asking  her to take photos of them so they can be featured on the blog. It is a case of mistaken identity people think she is me. I chuckled a bit and then said let’s take a selfie so we can show everyone how different we look. I just uploaded this pic and realised that it is a fair mistake because our faces look quite similar. I can totally see how someone can mistake her for me especially if we had our caps on. But the major difference is I have really super short hair and I am a good half a foot taller than Naomi PLUS  Naomi has a super hot bod and is usually in a bikini whereas I am ALWAYS in a one peice (I have had 5 children there is no way I will wear a bikini).

If you are looking for some school holiday fun. Our Bold and Beautiful member Sam Chambers and all round talented guy is putting on some workshops for kiddies and adults. Send him an email if you are interested. I know we have all seen him standing on his hand/s at one time or another. If you have ever wished to learn these skills your dreams have come true. He is finally teaching his awesome talent to the Northern Beaches world. Send him an email or give him a call.

Have a fabulous weekend and a safe school holidays. PEACE OUT, Nat

B & B Monthly Dinner– Are you swimming with Elasmobranchs?

The next B&B monthly dinner will be on Tuesday 11th April at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. Our guest speaker on the night will be Sian Liddy, a Marine Science student at the University of New South Wales, who will pose the question: are you swimming with Elasmobranchs?

Sian is looking for citizen scientists to engage with a research program she is running as part of an Internship with the Manly Environment Centre. The research aims to use non-invasive methods to assess elasmobranch biodiversity in the Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve. So come along to find out how you can be a part of this exciting new project.

The cost of the dinner is only $25 a head and includes shared entrees, a selection of mains to choose (incl a vegetarian option), corkage (for byo wine only). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential:  To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please BOOK HERE NOW.

Your twin sister here (it is that people ask me to share the pictures you have taken. Don’t we look very similar!). Great blog as always – I really enjoy your interviews of members. Happy school holidays! Naomi x
