ANZAC Day memorial swim today. Lest We Forget.
Glorious sunrise over our beautiful beach today to mark the occasion.
Bold & Beautiful ANZAC Day service at 7am before our swim.
This is Greg on the Bugle, very special day for him.
A few of our well known swimmers Bruce, Greg, Lisa, Kendelle, Sean and Kathy each played a role to pay respects, bugle the last post and sing our National Anthem.
Kendelle.
Kathy led the singing of Advance Australia Fair.
Very special, with all 630 of us singing along at the completion of the service it just completed the formal part of the morning perfectly.
Lisa, with her special words.
Sean.
As you can see, we had a very big roll up today.
630 swimmers and 41 newbies.
A wonderful morning for our service.
Entering the water after the service.
Ian welcoming Dearne who was one of our 41 newbies.
Hope all of the new swimmers had a fantastic morning and become addicted to the experience like the rest of us.
John giving the final touches to the temp. 21 degrees today.
Beautiful in the water, a little bumpy though.
Martin and Dorset are two of our regulars, you look like you are both enjoying the special day today.
Nicky helping Greg to stay calm before the big moment of playing the last post for us.
Belinda, Shelly, Fiona and Lisa all looking terrific.
Brian and Melissa with the sun behind them. Loving that shirt Brian.
Justice and Lenore enjoying the beautiful morning.
These guys are looking very happy. Roger and Simon with their buddy.
This is Sean with his rosemary, Pauline provided sprigs of rosemary for everyone today.
Lots of swimmers in the water today.
Lots of fish.
Edwina, Greg, Henrietta, Leveena, Elaine, Val and Kerrie getting ready for the service.
Heading out from Shelley beach. Lots of splash today.
This picture captures the moment as we make our way to the point.
Relaxing at Shelley.
Ingrid and her adorable Polly.
Polly is a favourite of mine too.
A great morning to commemorate Anzac Day together. Thanks to all of the people to played a special role to make it happen. Thanks also to Francis and Annie for ending me some of your pictures that I have included.
Enjoy the rest of your day,
Jenny Kent :))
Stats:
Swimmers: 630
Newbies: 41
Water temp: 21
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.
And now, a request from management. The coming Tuesday is ANZAC Day and we are expecting a large turnout including some not so experienced swimmers. The request is can regulars please swim round the outside (yes, like buffalo girls, all you eighties kids) to perform something like a shepherding function. And if you have a board or something and only if you feel like it could you please bring it and use it? Thanks very much.
