Tuesday 11 July – On a Clear Day

July 11, 20177

With offshore winds about as light as they could be from the WSW and a rising tide from a low at 4am, we were met with what was as close to a mirror finish as you could hope for. Coupled with no swell to speak of and a balmy 18 degrees, you could be excused for thinking our swimming hole was a lake.

With 240 eager beavers and 4 new friends enjoying the balmy and crisp conditions.

The low tide saw many walk to the point then lift the undercarriage and float away.

The conditions under the water was also spectacular, adding to the magic.

The scene at the point as the Sun struggled through was worth the wait.

The moon was close to full and lit the way early.

A couple of SUP men stroked the horizon as we headed off.

The surface was like glass.

Great conditions to stretch out.

Or lift the pace as a few of the crew hustled by.

The Sun gradually extricated itself from the cloud and added some extra warmth.

And thankfully Derick manned the point making sure no one ran aground.

Then, job done, like a rocket, he was gone.

Just a glimpse in the distance.

Only to race up the ramp and be there for Nick Howard who cruised in after a 500 K journey.

As Ted will testify, it doesn’t get much better.

Have a great week everyone.

Cheers

Brian

And now for the important stuff.
