11/10/2017 – So much better than it looked!

11/10/20178

There were a few reluctant swimmers this morning… It didn’t look that inviting out there. The sky was grey and the wind was up, it looked bumpy and messy. Of course the early swimmers came out with glowing faces saying that it was ‘much better around the corner and really clear towards Shelly’! They were right. once again it was so worth it! I even saw some great sights over at The Bower with Gary the friendly Groper coming out to say hello and Port Jackson Sharks and a Crested Horn Shark swimming around!

Little Sarah and Jon are back from Honkers and loving being back with their swimming friends. Here LSA photobombs an intimate photo shoot with this group of male legends!Welcome back LSA and Jon!

Ian reported around 50 6.30am swimmers and we reckoned around 155 altogether. Here are some 7amers. Cath, Michele and Leisa, all in the medical profession know the benefits of getting your daily dose of Vitamin Sea!

Jacky, Louise and Paul do too. Temperature was 19 degrees today, getting warmer. We had quite a few newbies too!

Kelly on the left a fairly new swimmer here from Wales, has been adopted by Lisa and the Wows and doesn’t miss a morning swim.

Jo, Georgina, Gemma and Mary

This is what it looked like going in, not big waves just choppy, so everyone went from the beach (except naughty me who ran around to Shelly !)

Mum and daughter swimming together, lovely Jill and Milly 🙂

Greg and Peter

At Shelly

Rob (Bones) with his daughter Jodie. It’s always a special treat when one of your kids join you for a swim.

Both called Bruce!

Love Michele’s face in this one! She’s attended Lips and Lesbubbs ‘Blog Tarting Course’ I’m sure. If anyone need to go to emergency at Manly hospital you know you’ll be in good hands 😉 !!

The more reserved Eastern Suburb section of Shelly

All taken today around The Bower swimming with Peter Barford. So lovely to see Gary again. When you dive down he comes up really close!

Swimming back to shore we went through the Salp. Here’s a photo. They don’t sting though luckily as far as I’m aware.

On Saturday night one of our regular swimmers Jim aka Jimble Dick is performing with his band The Crawdaddies at Harbord Bowlo. Everyone welcome and for a great cause!

Photos from last week below

A Reaper Cuttlefish with a cute little friend!

Eagle Ray last week. (Some people saw him today)

Thank you to John Bryant who delivered a great talk and slide show at Bluewater Cafe last night. The consensus was ‘very interesting’ !

Help Nat helps kids with SanFillippo Syndrome Cake Stall on Saturday!!! Please bring some slice, cake or something to sell and some money to buy!

Last Friday Nat participated in ENDURE 24  which is to support the Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation which supports research for treatment and a cure for those suffering from SanFillippo Syndrome.

Sanfilippo Syndrome is a rare genetic disease which affects the central nervous system of children. She knows a family from the Northern Beaches whose children both have Sanfilippo Syndrome. “They are beautiful children and to think they may not reach adulthood breaks my heart. ENDURE 24 entails a CrossFit workout on the hour for 24 hours at CrossFit Manly Vale. If you would like to donate to this worthy cause the links are below.Thank you, Nat”

Help the kids at Royal Far West

Royal Far West would love to hear from any Bold & Beautiful members who are keen to help run a surf/sail/kayak or paddleboard program for our seniors during the summer months. These are children from the country who are at RFW for the week to receive medical help, speech pathology, OT, and more. We have foster kids, kids who come with their families or from remote areas where there is simply no assistance available. A working with children check and surf lifesaving qualification required. To register your interest or enquire please call Linda Scott on 86226838 or email lindas@royalfarwest.org.au. Other non water based volunteer opportunities are also available.

Have a lovely day everyone

Great blog Lainey! Agree, the swim was way more fun than it looked. Gemma, Mary, and I saw the eagle ray on the way back.

Beautiful photos, happy, noisy swimmers, fun bouncy conditions and a brilliant blog. Thanks Lainey. I’m really looking forward to The cake stall on Saturday to help Nat raise funds for her Sanfillipo charity.
