Sunday 25th Feb – What a difference a day makes.

25/02/20189

The wind had swung around to the South, the blueys had been blown back out to sea and there was a beautiful even swell rolling in.

A blissful start to the day.

Matt and Pia

Carol and Inge both eager to hit the water.

Caitlin and Tim

Nick and his much younger sister, Anna. Today was her first swim with B&B.

Melise and Fiona

Mrs & Mr Lower Middle Management

Meanwhile, the waves were building as the clock ticked closer to 7.

Photographers had gathered on the sand to capture a bit of colour and movement.

Katrina adding a lot of colour to the morning.

The surf continued to build

White knuckles between waves.

Tranquility at the point.

Some happy faces having made it out.

Then powering to Shelly.

At Shelly the fun continued.

New swimmers, the Hackenby family.

Karen and Renee with JK

Rainer and Mary laughing at me as I attempted to retrieve my camera.

On the way back to the beach, I paused to take some photos. In the wonderful tradition of B&B, this guy stopped to see whether I was OK.

This sense of camaraderie is only just one of the reasons we all treasure our wonderful morning ritual and community.

Stats:

Temp: 22.1

Swimmers: 437

Newbies: 18

Due to the cancellation of the 6 and 10k swims yesterday, the last 6 and 10k badge swims of the season will take place next Saturday, March 3.

10km swimmers need to bring food and drink for the break at the 6km mark.

Royal Far West

Royal Far West was delighted last year with the response of B&B swimmers to their request for assistance with their activity programs. This year RFW is looking for volunteers to help with their beach games on Wednesday afternoon 3.30-5 pm They run beach volleyball, sand play, volleyball, cricket and soccer. Children are of all ages and abilities and love the help and positive attention. If you can assist with this very rewarding program, please contact Anna Bowden at  annab@royalfarwest.org.au.

Yes, there is something really ethereal about it. It’s amazing how lucky you can be with photos shot underwater. I had no idea that it would turn out like that.
