Sunday 8th April 2018- The hangover special

08/04/201818

This morning when my alarm went off and I pressed snooze for the second time because.. well.. Iโ€™d had a couple too many wines last night. ย It got me thinking… some people would likely be too hungover to swim today.. they might not have woken up at home..

As I strolled along Manly beach past a girl wearing last nights clothes, doing the โ€œparade of prideโ€ formally known as the โ€œwalk of shameโ€ .. I sighted some people enjoying the sunset without their phones obstructing their view. How strange.. will people know there was a beautiful sunset if it wasn’t posted online?

Although the thought of waking up early to swim after a big night out seems unachievable to some, I believe its the best cure from a big night.

The 6:30 swimmers were fresh and full of energy this morning. What a time to be alive!

Some crabby invaders

All swimmers waiting patiently in the close knit group at the point without strays.

There was even a mass “fist pump” at Shelly beach from the 6:30 swimmers at the “Lets GO!” which EVERYONE waited for!

The 7:00AM swim provided a huge turn out. It was a time to meet with friends and discuss last nights shenanigans.

There was talk of weird fake tan lines.

In the water a dusky whaler at the point provided some excitement, I managed to miss him so heres some other fish instead.

There was fun to be had in the water.

And even some creatures lurking below the surface.

.. what better way to finish a beautiful swim than with some coffee and some breakfast from the cafe! My keep cup is over 8 years old from my nursing placement at the Alfred hospital in Melbourne!

stats- temp 22.9 delightful

fresh meat- 10

total swimmers- 546

Thanks for coming, see you all again soon I hope!

I like the blog heaps. The event at Shelly was 20Twenty where people swam then ran then cycled to raised money for cerebral palsy and watching were some children who have the condition cheering on. Ian also wanted to ask the guy up on the rock with the guitar was doing or what he was playing but could not get up there.

I wondered what that event was! Thanks Elizabeth! The people from sunny field home
Come into emergency a lot and itโ€™s always so beautiful to see them with their carers, they do such a good job!

Great blog, Jacqui! Love the humour!
A very inspiring moment in the Commonwealth Games was to see a guy who had been diagnosed with cerebal palsy at the age of 4, encouraged to swim and winning a gold medal(I think it was!).

Jacqui that first photo was intriguing.Love it! And your sign off was brilliant too with that photo of yourself. I agree let the “hair of the dog” be the swim…you soon feel much better if not virtuous.

What a fantastic first blog! Well done Jac. You are so right, our swim is the best hangover cure but itโ€™s also the best hangover deterrent. So many times Iโ€™ve held off on drinking more and gone to bed early because Iโ€™ve realised getting up to do a B & B swim is the best thing to do fullstop. Great photos and comments and I know you had difficulties loading so huge congrats Jac. Please blog again soon!

Wow, Jacqui,it must have been a HUGE night if you weren’t up until sunset! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Still, that’s way better than those of us who didn’t make it all….and possibly haven’t much for a while.
