Winter is coming

15/04/20186

I don’t know about you, but I reckon it’s been a relief to actually need blankets or a doona instead of sweating under a sheet in the middle of April. While warm mornings are lovely the crisp morning air has been quite welcome I feel – what we expect of a Sydney Autumn.

I arrived just on time for the 7am swim, having forgotten I was blogging today, so what you will get is mainly fish photos

Elizabeth was feeling the cold of the air and the water and was heard to ask which stroke would keep your underarms warm.

I decided to head to the Bower today with these swimmers

More people had the same idea

While still missing the Holy Grail (aka giant cuttlefish footage) we did see this fiddler ray at the Bower

I headed back to the Yellow Shed, and spotted a ball of yellowtail

Seeing the visibility was good and conditions were calm I decided a wander along Fish Alley  (head north along the wall after the yellow shed) was just the thing

Gropers are gorgeous but I do have a soft spot for the crimson morwong

Heading back into the beach I spotted what looked to be a teeny weeny flathead (but I could be wrong)

I got out of the water late due to my habitual mooching along various scenic swims but there were still quite a few people milling about enjoying the sun’s warming rays

This is Cooper, possibly hoping for some food, but who’s to know what is going on in his doggy psyche

The beach and the bay are looking wonderful today

If you didn’t know, you wouldn’t believe the amazing biodiversity under the surface. Marine reserves are precious and we are very lucky.

I parked above the Bower pool today and spotted these on the way back

And just in case you missed it, this from Thursday morning

Stats – I don’t know but the water felt a bit chilly

What am I reading? Reckless Daughter -A Portrait of Joni Mitchell by David Yaffe. As a massive Joni fan, firmly believing she is a genius way ahead of her time I am finding the book fascinating. She sacrificed much in pursuit of her uncompromising creative imperative.

There’s a Friday night meet up starting this Friday for anyone keen to meet up and socialise with clothes on and swimmers off! Don’t get this mixed up, OK?

The bar is North on North Steyne. Next door to Hemingway’s above Skater HQ.  they are doing a BnB happy hour from 5-7 on Friday nights.  $5 beers and wines.  It is a large space with balcony overlooking the beach.

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend!
