On 2 January 2021 an announcement was made that the great unwashed of Greater Sydney were allowed to breach the barriers at the top of Spit Bridge and Roseville Bridge after what seemed an eternity of lockout. The bridges were humming with the restraint of those who wanted to swim but could not. Perhaps residents of Manly would have liked to be let out without the rest of us coming in using all the parking and space. I am glad though because I could resume my swimming at Manly.
Today I encountered a few new people who have resolved to swim either every day or more often. For some people it is a new activity they have decided to start. I also came across the NSW Emergency Engineer who had a swim!
Fellow Lane Covians Greg and his beautiful daughter Cassie. Keen and great swimmers
Anne brought by her daughter to swim has decided to swim regularly. She gave me some tips as she has got up to speed so quickly. Great new year thing to decide
I interrupted Mark in his conversation to hear a report of the swim – bit bumpy but good
Martin has swum and a new swimmer about to go in
Another swim completed as I go in. Have you started counting your swims for the summer badges? 30 swims in 7 weeks for one and a mega 50 swims for the Corona.
This lot did their triple today. A good day for it. Have you done yours?

And now to the water
Lots of waves today but lovely. That is, when I looked at them, I was still able to control my breathing. Just enjoyable to swim in

Can’t wait to be back among the hordes tomorrow, although on our holiday up north I spotted a turtle off Elizabeth Beach and followed it (from a respectful distance, a lot closer to the surface than it was actually :)) for ages!!! Then I swam around the point to the next beach, which seemed to be a nudist beach – or at least the northern end was nudist. Seriously you middle aged blokes, you look better with sluggos on than off…. I didn’t hang around, but swam back and enjoyed seeing two lovely eagle rays on the way home. But still looking forward to CTB tomorrow!
