There are some mornings where the magic isn’t in a spectacular sunrise or a perfectly calm ocean. It’s found in the quiet moments, the familiar faces, and the simple joy of being exactly where you are.
This morning started with a walk along Manly Beach, looking up at the stars as the world was slowly waking up. There is something so special about those early hours -when the beach is quiet, the sky is still dark, and you get a little moment to yourself before the day begins.
Of course, no morning is complete without a coffee from my favourite spot, so I wandered up to Manly Point Café for my usual coffee and a little chat. There’s always laughter and a bit of silliness, and those small moments of connection bring so much joy.

After coffee, I sat on the point and watched the morning unfold. The ocean community was already coming alive. The Drinks Express crew went past and gave me a wave, bringing one of those little moments that reminds me how lucky we are to be part of such a wonderful community.
I also spotted Snoopy and Rusty from Surf Safari heading in for a bodysurf. Watching people enjoy the ocean in their own unique way is one of the things I love most about this place – everyone has their own relationship with the sea.

Eventually, it was time to make my way around to the Bower for a swim. The sky was grey and moody, but the water temperature was a very inviting 18.7 degrees ..warm enough to leave the wetsuit behind today.
The swim to Shelly with Nicky and Stew was such a delight. The water wasn’t as clear as it had been over the previous few days, but honestly, it didn’t matter. The saltwater felt incredible, and we all loved simply being in the ocean together. Sometimes it’s not about perfect conditions; it’s about the feeling you get when you immerse yourself in the sea and share that experience with friends.
On the swim back, I found myself floating on my back, looking up at the sky as little white and grey clouds drifted above me. The ocean gently held me, and for a while, everything felt completely peaceful.
In those moments, I was reminded that even though the world can sometimes feel heavy and dark, there is still so much goodness around us. It’s in the stars before dawn, a friendly wave from a passing or bumping into a swimmer (sorry Hen), a laugh over coffee, the warmth of saltwater on your skin, and the people who make ordinary mornings extraordinary.
This is why I love the ocean. It has a way of bringing us back to what matters.
