Not every swim needs to be fast.
Not every stroke has to chase distance or time.
Some swims are simply about being.
This morning was one of those.
I slowed everything right down. Long, lazy glides. Soft kicks. Letting the water hold me instead of pushing through it.

At one point, I rolled onto my back and floated like a starfish, gazing up at the moon while the ocean quietly cradled me.
Beside me, Lisha my swim buddy slipped through the water, leaving a trail of bubbles that made her look like a mermaid – especially magical after spotting eagle rays cruising below earlier.
But my favourite moment came just before the point. That little pocket of paradise where the rocks rise up and golden kelp sways gently, sheltering tiny fish darting everywhere like sparks of life. I slowed even more. I hovered. I took it all in.
And then I realised – I was smiling underwater.
These are the swims where you stop and smell the roses. Where you glide instead of grind. Where you remember why you fell in love with the ocean in the first place.
Moments like these don’t shout – they whisper. They remind us to soften, to notice, to feel grateful for the simple magic of floating in salt water under the moon, surrounded by kelp forests, rays, bubbles, and friends.
Today wasn’t about performance.
It was about presence.
And honestly — that might be the most beautiful swim of all.
