Change is as good as….

15/01/20260

I thought this morning might be different from the past few, given last night’s sudden storm. And yes it was. ENE swell and NE wind. Not unusual summer conditions but we have been lucky with calm seas and good viz lately.

Sheila said it was lovely but that one person reported a bluebottle sting.

Lifeguard did predict there’d be some in the bay

But the hardy 7am cohort were not deterred

This ski tells a story. Watching it make its way unaccompanied I noticed a swimmer heading away from it. Had to retrieve the paddle didn’t he?

This is a quick blog as I have an early dental appointment.

Here are some sightings from earlier this week (in no particular order)

Octopus, not welcoming visitors

Black Reef Leatherjacket having a morning snack

A very very small Eagle Ray

Our Basil/Teddy

At the Point

Not much viz today but a good and choppy workout.

And now a word or several from Management

BnB swimmers we will be swimming out from Shelly beach next Sunday -18th Jan at the request of the Manly LSC. They have events this Sunday, and the ramp & waters off Sth Steyne will be in use by IRBs setting up for events from 6am.
Please meet at Shelly beach RHS ( boulder side) at 6.30 & 7am. Swim to the point & return on LHS (walkway side) avoiding the reef(snorkelling zone). For optimum safety please wear a pink cap & look out for other swimmers. Reminder that BNB swims this are a “friendly swim with friends” not a racing /training session. Enjoy your swim.

And a word from me. If you are lucky anough to see a turtle please do not crowd it especially if it is coming up for air. Turtles are air breathers and not getting a good enough breath can cause them to die by drowning.
