I don’t know about you but I have always loved the big summer high tides, and over the past and next few days we are looking at only just under 2 metres of high tide. My enjoying them doesn’t make sense from my photographer perspective because they usually bring cloudier water but I enjoy them just the same.
On the left we have newbie Imogen (hopefully that’s the correct spelling) with some family members who may be joining her for the swim in the next few days.
I think it was cooler in the middle of the bay
The sand is still moving about and once again we can see the old building foundations so please take care when entering and exiting the water at high tide when the water may be covering them
Fortunately the sand is only a few inches beolow the end of the ramp for now and hopefully it will stay that way. The incoming tide did make it hard to see today, especially when big sets came in.
Starting my swim early, between 6.30 and 7.00 gave me the opportunity to capture some of the aquatic action.
Including the ski paddlers.
And swimmers.
This very enthusiastic 7am starter
I didn’t see much in the way of critterage despite looking for a repported big ray and remora, but let me tell you about an unusual sighting. At first I thought it was a piece of leaf. Around fingernail size but it seemed to be moving too deliberately to be a piece of vegetation. As I watched it, it started to descend so I followed it, causing it to ink itself anf take off in a hurry. So I figure it must have been an tiny squid or cuttlefish. Definitely something you don’t see every day.
But what’s a B&B blog without some critter shots so here are some of one of our beloved resident turtles coming up for air last Friday afternoon.
