25/06/2011 – Jimble Juggling

June 25, 20115

82 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

Perfect swim this morning, the water was so clear it was just like flying over the desert, ok so Mr Whale got the time wrong today but even so it was absolutely magnificent 🙂

Soooo many fish: mado, groupers, yellowtail, red mowong, large king fish, 2 dusky whaler sharks, a fiddler ray and a massive possie of Jimbles that the swimmers were trying to duck and dive between, but some of the little rascals won as there were a few stings around.

Linda Goodwin saw her first Cuttlefish this morning too 🙂

It was good to see Ricky Facer back swimming this morning, but what was with the wetsuit Ricky, we thought you were going through winter in the pink !?

The first five lovely photos are courtesy of James Goins, which includes one of those naughty little Jimbles.

I went to the dentist this week, I thought I was getting my teeth
cleaned and look what happened… see the last photo on today’s blog !!!   Needless to say my dentist is one of the B&B swimmers.

Robin Turner has suggested the pink tooth either becomes part of the B&B induction process or it could be awarded as a kind of, our version of, the Queens Birthday honours list to worthy swimmers… Great idea, don’t you think ?!? 😉

Manly Wine sponsored B&B nibbles this Wednesday evening,
so hope to see you all there 🙂

Magnus Butlin has automated the B&B attendance graph with the photos on the wall of fame now, so if you have a photo on the wall of fame, each day that you swim your photo will come up next to your name on the daily attendance graph, other wise you will be identified as a cute pink dolphin, it’s super cool, check it out by clicking on the graph on the left of this blog.

If you don’t have a photo on the wall of fame please either send one in or see Michael at your next swim and he will take a photo for you.

There will also be a graph showing the B&B daily numbers over the last 12 months which will be live, courtesy of Magnus, real soon !

It’s great to see some of the winter swimmers back into it; David Page and Andrew Duff to mention just a couple… There are currently 247 swimmers on target for their winter badge!! It’s not too late to start, you only
need 20 swims over a minimum of 7 different weeks of winter to qualify, check out how you and your friends are tracking by clicking on the winter badge at the top and on the left of the blog.

Good luck to Brendan Maher, Collie Kinsela and Iain McGregor along with all the other swimmers who are taking part in the 24 hour swim for MS today

What a beautiful morning!! I can say no more. It was just delightful. It should be even better tomorrow as the water temp will rise further, no detectable swell and clear as can be.

Anne Wilson, Gaetan Guilhon, Linda Goodwin, Michael Christie, Michel Le Vieux, Tim Ettle and myself just went snorkeling and it was sensational !!
To mention just a few things that we saw:
an Octopus tucked in between the rocks on the point, 2 Sargent Bakers, the largest giant cuttlefish I have ever seen tucked under a rock shelf on the way to half way beach in reasonably deep water, a Port Jackson Shark, 3 Dusky Whaler Sharks, loads of yellowtail scads, mados, red mowongs, a big kingfish, a fiddler ray, leather jackets, groupers, old wives, luderick, blackfish, bream, 12 flutemouth fish the list just goes on – absolutely stunning !!!!!
Michel won the prize for finding all the hidden treasures, thanks Michel !
I’m sure the photos will be shared here by Gaetan, Michel and Tim shortly 🙂

Sensational swim today, even though I swam through the jimble colony. Some more great photos to enjoy. Nice look Jules. Oh, and Linda I hope your jimble sting is on the mend. See Tim, it’s not all about you. Goodluck to the 24 hr swimmers, a very worthy cause.
