24/01/2012 – Clear, Clear and Crystal Clear

January 24, 201213

109 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

Brendan and Gaetan had a swell early swim up to Queensie and back at 5.50am and Gaetan took a couple of sunrise shots for us.

Another great turnout of happy swimmers enjoying the beautifully warm water that we are enjoying at the moment.

The water is stunningly clear at the moment, you can see to the bottom and enjoy the underwater treasures all the way across.  This morning’s highlights included the Dusky Whalers and a gorgeous Eagle Ray, which sadly was too deep to come out well in the photo.

There were very large schools of tiny fish just off the point and Patrick did his bit for the marine life by swimming back with a plastic bottle in the back of his togs.

It was a fantastic swim with a fun little wave to catch back to shore which Dave certainly enjoyed…

Our Manly Wine monthly sponsored nibbles are on this evening with the new start time of 7pm.  It would be fantastic however, if we still congregate earlier at 6.30pm to show our support & gratitude to Manly Wine by taking advantage of their Sunset Session.  Hope to see you all there.

Water Temperature 23.4

Good morning all. I am desperately hunting for a crew for the South head Rough Water swim in May (Bondi to Watsons Bay). If anyone has any suggestions in relation to a boat and paddler to team up with that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Gaetan, I am very impressed with your sighting of the exceedingly rare pink-capped clown fish (also known as Anemonefish, sub-family of the Woodyamphiprioninae) on Sunday. It is from a hitherto unknown family. I am at the Oz Mus on Friday and they will be excited to hear about your discovery. No photo of it is known to exist, until now, so expect to see your pic on the Oz Mus website soon.

Excuse me Michael but here you are making half-witted remarks when you should be updating today’s attendance stats. It’s gone 3.30pm already.

Well excuse me Michael, but why does it say 78 swimmers when today’s tally was in fact 109? Eh? You better buy me a drink tonight. Or else.
