19/11/2011 – Pink, Blue & Yellow ??

November 19, 20112

103 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

13 people embarked on an early Bolderdash to Freshie and back this morning, 2 got out on the way up as Graeme McGuire got a bluey in his ear, see photo below – ouch !  2 got out early on the way back due to
‘whirlpool conditions’ off Queensie headland and 2 toughed it out all the way back to Manly.  Meanwhile 7 people continued on for a leisurely one way swim to Dee Why and were rewarded by the company of 3 dolphins and the mist around North Curl Curl headland.  Nicolee Goins was ready on Dee Why beach to give them their well earned heroes welcome 😉

Photos of their epic journey, courtesy of James Goins can be viewed here.

The rest of the 100+ of us had a lovely calm, blue bottle free swim to Shelly and back with our friendly sharks, rays and vast collection of fishie friends including Christy McLean and Neil Cowin’s beautiful blue fish with a big yellow spot.

Stephen Coulter creates a wake as he sets off from Shelly and Attracta Wolohan is teaching the fish a thing or two about being colourful off the point.  Check out her flippers, I’m sure they are actually both yellow !!

Lori Szambowski heads off to the USA today for 6 weeks, have a great time Lori, we’ll miss you, but we’ll look forward to your regular blog updates and B&B on tour photos… 😉

If anyone needs a retro outfit for our Christmas party, which is on 9th December at the Steyne Hotel, the Manly Markets are on today and traditionally they have some great outfits up for grabs, some of the girls are already there, so be quick…

Tim’s fact of the day: “The dwarf shark is the t shark, it’s about as big as your hand.”

Water Temperature 20.9 degrees.
Air Temperature 18.5 degrees.
Sunrise 5.42am.
Sunset 7.39pm.
Low Tide: 9.00am.
High Tide: 3.15pm

On this morning’s swim from Manly To Dee Why, we were followed by dolphins across the bay from Freshie to North Curly. Nicole and Nicolee (!!) were on the point and saw the whole pursuit unfold. We paused off North Curly rockpool after finally realising the dolphins were there. Here is some video. Not much, but it does put you in the water with us! Look for the dolphins to pop up at :25.
