57 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
A tiny wave in our corner as we set off and a little chop as we swam across the ditch… There were 8 dusky whalers out to play close to Shelly 🙂
Stephen Coulter say’s it’s currently 130 strokes from Shelly Beach to the sunshine. This is a changing water melon as we move closer to the solstice.
Izzy put her flippers back on today which is naughty as ‘Dizzy Izzy’ is training for our Dardanelles swim which is only 3 months away !
Orca wetsuits should be arriving today !! 🙂
Not everyone feels the cold though as you can see by the post swim chatter in budgies…
Madlen also took a whole pile of great photos yesterday, they’ll be up on the website later today 🙂
Gotta love winter, all the magical sunrises make for spectacular B&B photos !
Water Temperature 20.0 degrees.
Sunrise 6.43am.
Sunset 5.01pm.
High Tide: 9.40am.
Low Tide: 3.15pm.
Lovely photo below of us swimming back in yesterday with the huge waves breaking in the background at Freshie, courtesy of Nicolee Goins 🙂
For those of you who don’t understand the water melon effect Lesley Coulter has kindly just sent through the attached… 🙂

WATER MELON??? What were you thinking. Everyone knows the correct terminology is GRAPEFRUIT. This is what happens when the blog is written by committee. I can only respond with the following hastily crafted limerick:
There was a young girl called Jul,
Who was generally quite smart as a rule,
But when doing her blog,
Her brain’s in a fog,
And it makes her look like a fool!
Luv you Jules xxx

Very talented limerick crafting there, Ian. We are such a cultured group. Sorry Izzy about the interruption to your wonderful recital this morning by Mr Bean’s accidental but lethal flatulence.

I have to agree(?) with Izz; in my case the flippers came back because I was getting worse not better without them.. Is this a (un)phenomenon!? ;-P

the correct terminology is “chocolate” or “penis”.
From the Oxford dictionary:
chocolate (adj)chocolate shadow- “length of shadow moving across the water particularly in relation to number of strokes a swimmer (southern hemisphere) will take to reach it. Thought to inspire speed and more strokes- (see javelin thrower (northern hemisphere).”Penis”(adverb) is the slang cockney term suggesting a swimmer will swim faster to reach it. In the navy they dwell on number of strokes.
Some English call it “watermelon” but this is a bastardisation from the French eaupeni . The English who call it watermelon are very very silly.

It all makes sense now! Thank you for that erudite elucidation and the opportunity to use such an impressive illiteration!!

Change the last line of my Haiku to:
Sunshine Chocky Penis
(Chocolate has too many syllables and calories)

Gosh…. I’m in shock… following all these enlightening interpretations, namely Dizzy Izzy’s, Lesley has revised her diagram, funny but there seems to be problems with the upload. I think the vertical person needs to be updated to a swimmer though, don’t you think !!
