July 16, 20176

An incredible effort for so many to turn up on what was going to be the coldest day of the year!

The way some embraced the cold (while I was in my wetsuit) was pretty amazing. Here are some of the toughest characters we have amongst us:

Ian said he hates the cold…

but knows how much the ladies dig the ‘tough guy’.

Likewise…

She did in fact swim very bravely

!

She was dry and clothed by the time these boys came in.

Personally I do not think their wetsuits were thicker than his chest and chest hair so it was about even for these three.

Actually he took his wetsuit off just for the photo!

Nice try though.

More brave swimmers who fear no cold!

Lainey’s shirt also expressed a brave message

And Murray, aka the Danger Man knows no fear at all!

He just finished telling me about his intention to get on his bike in this very spot!

But all credit must surely go to Belinda for her 500km!

An amazing effort – countless hours of cold, ‘wetsuitless’ water, bad blog jokes, solstice swims, doubles, triples, dare I say quadruples? But it was all worth it to finish 500km in front of a great group of friends! An inspiration to us all!

Another inspiration to many of us is of course of our families and lots came out to support the BnB on this icy day…

Lisa also brought along her son and husband to help us enjoy these incredible cakes  – all funds going towards Cancer Research when Daniel completes his 21km ‘half-marathon’. I know it seems short compared to Belinda’s effort but he is tipped to complete it in under 70 minutes*, making him one of the fastest Aussies ever.

And Emma also managed to get into a family photo!

Murray also got inspiration from his cousin.

If anyone enjoys Live Death Metal Music then you should see their band. If you are wondering if they are any good, lets just say that KISS request to be their curtain raisers!

Thanks a lot for your patience ladies and gents – have a good Sunday evening and week ahead!

Again congrats to Belinda – what a machine!

And I almost forgot the bravest and best behaved out of all the BnB today…

Little Will!

Have a great week everyone,

And here is one from when I was in Murray’s Band!

They may all be asleep in Manly, Gino, but I’ve just read your blog and glad to be updated on your freezing conditions…..think I’ll stay in Hong Kong!! Had an exciting ocean swim here this morning with heavy rain alternating with sun and zero vis…..couldn’t get Roger or Lips to join us for a swim in the surf here!! x

Not asleep watching Brendan’s amazing swim of the English Channel. He is well past half way and on the home stretch now. He might reach France as we reach Shelly. Thanks for a great blog.

    Hey Gino
Nice blog as usual. Why the late post, did you have technical problems?
