16/07/2011 – Turtles & Dolphins

July 16, 201110

69 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

A very misty start to the day, in fact it was quite a mystical morning. The water was lovely though and Roberto Suares saw a turtle at the Bower – beautiful !

Then as Jon, Little Sarah Abbott and Nicolee Goins swam back they had dolphins swimming all around them – magnificent, gotta love swimming with dolphins !

~20 swimmers completed a double lap today.

Superb photos from James Goins again today including a lovely happy picture of Annette Willows and ‘Our Angel’ Maureen Rath at the start of our swim and Robin Turner and Nick TB Dowson looking pretty ‘cool’ walking up the ramp after the second lap :-). Oh and then there’s the one of me looking positively miserable and 105 in the shade with hypothermia at Après Swim being beautifully cared for by Nicolee Goins and Sarah Abbott, thank you ladies !! 🙂

Plus a fantastic B&B on tour photo just in from Gaetan Guilhon, who has just arrived in his hotel room in Canada; 41st floor with a lovely view of CN Tower and Lake
Ontario, love your style Gaetan 😉 Have a great trip and we’ll look forward to a regular update of photos 🙂

I’m sure there will be some people keen for a double lap after the regular 7am swim again tomorrow…

Turtles and Dolphins today, will there be a whale tomorrow – PLEASE !!!

Happy birthday to Nanette Crawford today 🙂

Welcome back to Madlen Altstaedt and Sven Peters, the water must have felt warm to you this morning Madlen after some of your B&B on tour adventure photos.

I think yesterday’s jellyfish is a moon jelly, but awaiting confirmation from Mandy.

20-30 dolphins came into North Harbour right in front of my place at about 1pm and frolicked for 30 minutes or so. I wonder if it was the same pod you saw this morning?

Lovely swim this morning, a little tempted to become a “double crosser”; maybe one day. Hope ‘Coldilocks’ is feeling better, thank God for the ‘Heat Angels’.

Goldilocks was most grateful to the heat angels I can tell you, they were heaven sent ;-). Goldilocks has now just woken up to the sound of Iains voice (on the phone I might add) after just over 2 hours sleep with the electric blanket on 3 – feeling toasty now 🙂  Good job Michael was home !

Sorry to have missed you all this morning but I was over in the tropical waters of Balmoral with some other channel swimmer wannabees like me.
We had a small pod of dolphins come in to check us out and one came within a couple of arm lengths of me and gave me a look!
Unfortunately my current fluency in dolphin is not that good so i have chosen to interpret the look as a bit of a ‘how you doing?’
I will be joining you all for swims and coffee tomorrow and wanted to find out if anyone is keen to go to Queenscliffe or Freshie?
I’m pretty sure we will see whales at Freshwater if we do go.
    Till tomorrow.

Seems likely – they only had to whizz round Dobroyd Point, about a minute at Dolphin speed.

I am keen for either an early, a few laps, or a trip to queenie!
Dolphins at Balmoral were seriously moving this morning! Look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
Jules – can you please bring a Large hoodie and a discount card for me tomorrow?
    Cheers
