14/04/2011 – The Best of the Best !!

April 14, 201129

Over 106 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

What an amazing swim, just when you think it can’t get any better the ocean comes up with something new to blow us away – it really was one of the beat swims ever !

The guys who swam Bolderdash had a wonderful dolphin experience. The regulars got to see the dolphins in the distance but everything else up close and personal: Batfish, Groupers, Garfish, Yellowtail Scad, Old Wife’s, Rock Cod, loads of Dusky Whalers, Mado, a large Flathead, 2 Yellow Catfish.

Attracta found the tamest baby Wobbegong which has been tagged sitting on a rock right in close to shore at Shelly and Suanne got to tickle Bluey the blue grouper just off Shelly – beautiful !

After Anna Alvsdotter’s great idea, inspired by Stephen Coulter and Gaetan Guilhon’s awesome underwater images recently, we’ve just gone live with a new gallery on our website: “The Wall of Fish”. I have kicked it off with a selection of marine life, not all identified, so please check it out, identify anything you can by sending me an email and upload any marine life images that you are happy to share… The more the merrier, so please upload your photos !

Video clips are also most appreciated 🙂

Congratulations to Ed Bodkin and Ros Foster on the birth of they beautiful baby boy: Tom Hunter Bodkin. He was born on Tuesday 12th April at 3:45am. Tom weighed 3.625kg (8 pounds) and was 52cm tall.

If anyone is interested in attending Cathie’s Father’s funeral the details are on the last comment of yesterday’s blog.

Water Temperature 23.1 degrees.
Sunrise 6.17am.

Beautiful swimming conditions again – we are so fortunate. Later in the morning I set off for a board paddle in search of dolphins – I reached them at Queenscliff and paddled with them round to the southern end of Freshwater – here I spent about an hour in their company in clear waters – Magic – almost as good as swimming with them – if only I had goggles and a camera. A memorable experience.

Great video – what an amazing experience. Hey I didn’t know Bolderdash had restarted. What mornings is it on? I was trying to find it on the web site but couldn’t find it.

It’s not formally on as such Greg, the water is so beautiful at the moment that if someone fancies doing a Bolderdash they put a comment on the blog to let others now, and more ofter than not there will be a few takers, so keep an eye on the comments the night before if you fancy one or if you want to initiate one 🙂
