09/05/2011 – Cloudy Skies, Clear Water

May 9, 20114

41 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

The skies might have been cloudy but the water was clear 🙂

Beautiful swim this morning. We’ve lost the sun at Shelly beach for the winter now 🙁

After drop is back ! It’s a technical term of course… After drop is when you feel quite fine after the swim until you get to coffee and then you feel the cold… 🙁

Charlotte Van Veenendall, now Charlotte Forster, Ian Forster’s new daughter-in-law qualified for the World Championships in the 4 x 100m relay in Seoul in August. Fantastic effort Charlotte, well done, congratulations !!

Water Temperature 20.6 degrees.
Sunrise 6.35am.
Sunset 5.08pm.
Low Tide: 6.40am.
High Tide: 12.43pm.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr indeed. Lovely in the water but its the after drop that gets you. That crisp cool southerly coming straight off the Snowy mountains!!
Still it was a lovely swim this morning. Swell at about two inches, reasonably clear and at nearly 21c, just ideal to swim hard. Also with only 40 swimmers or so, you didn’t feel like you were sharing a lane with anyone.
A little bit of sun and it would be as good as it gets.

My very favourite two inch swell this morning !! Let’s hope it’s the same tomorrow morning……

Don’t worry your highness. The swell will be 3.2m but will be totally south, so it should be exactly the same as today.
